    PREFACE:

Bailey is a Siamese a lilac point cat, with big ears and a white coat, he was born in Oxford shire to supreme champion parents and grandparents. Bailey lives with his family in Hampshire, England, with his close pal Tia Maria a female seal point Siamese born in Cornwall. As a cat, Bailey is strong and sleek and loves to play and have adventures like hiding, chasing bugs, playing with toys. He is highly intelligent and loves to talk all the time, his favourite places are the garden and the conservatory where he stretches out in the sun.

His antics and good nature have been the inspiration for the collection of Bailey the Siamese cat books, that hopefully will be enjoyed by readers young and old. Although the stories are fictitious, the material of places, people are factual as possible, reflecting hours of research and first-hand experience by the author.

The author Dr James Seligman is a retired University Principal Fellow and lives with his wife, Bailey and Tia in a little terrace in Southampton.

Hullo, my name is Bailey I am a 21-year-old Siamese Lilac Point Cat, and my family who look after me live in the UK and are native Ozzy’s (Australian). I am big and strong and love to have adventures. For years I have heard stories of the sunburnt country with wide open spaces and strange animals, the big open sky. My owners had on many occasions said that Australia gets under your skin. It was time for me to pick up my tucker-bag, jump on a plane and go down unda!

    Wally The Wombat

I ARRIVED IN PERTH, Western Australia and as I got off the plane the heat hit me, it must have been 40c in the shade, it was not long before a cool Swan Lager went down the hatch! As I headed on the road towards Denham it was getting dark, I encountered my first Ozzie creature what are you I asked and the creature said I am Wally the wombat. He was a large, pudgy mammal and a marsupial, or pouched animal. He said " I am only found in Australia and on scattered islands nearby. Like other marsupials, wombats give birth to tiny, undeveloped young that crawl into pouches on their mothers' bellies. I am nocturnal and emerge to feed at night on grasses, roots, and bark. Wow, I said that cool and we stopped for the night under a big gum tree and ate from the tucker bag.

We were both awoken by a load of screeching with the sun barely over the horizon, Wally the wombat said, flaming Maggie’s they are always fightin’ and makin a big fuss over nothing, and it was then I met Molly.

    Molly the Magpie

MOLLY THE MAGPIE WAS sleek with a long tail, she was black and white with a strong beak and claws to catch food and sit high in the trees. I introduced myself and Wally, but as I turned around Wally had gone, he left a note on the tree say he had to go home and thanked me for the grub and company, he wished me luck.

Bless me said Molly what are you doing out in the mulga all  on your own, you look like a city slicker cat to me. Bailey told Molly he was from England and on a great adventure around Australia. The ruckus in the tree got worse, and Molly shouted in true blue Ozzie shuuutup all of you’s and stop fightin over food, cant ya see I am having a nag with me pommie mate Bailey? Pommie what does that mean?  Molly told me all about magpies and I quote "the adult Australian magpie is a fairly robust bird ranging from 14.5–17  in length, with distinctive black and white feathers, gold brown eyes and a solid wedge-shaped bluish-white and black bill. The male and female are similar in appearance and can be distinguished by differences in back markings.

With our long legs, the Australian magpie walks rather than waddles or hops and spends much time on the ground. We are described as one of Australia's most accomplished songbirds, the Australian magpie has an array of complex vocalizations. Molly said actually we just squabble a lot makin a big racket, drives the local mad. I then told Molly I had to go and get on my way as Broome was my next stop and it was quite a walk, some 1,200 miles, I was hoping the thumb a lift.

On the highway, I stuck my thumb out for a hitch, and not long after the biggest cattle train rolled over the horizon, I guess most of you will know the standard trucks with semi-trailers, that's what you see everywhere.

    Corry the Currawong

IF YOU ATTACH ANOTHER articulated trailer you get a B-double, and with two articulation points even a B-triple, that’s a Ozzie big monster of a cattle truck with bull bars, loads of lights on the front, and the loudest blast horn you have ever heard. The bloke driving the truck was named Mick, he wore Stubbies as shorts and a blue singlet, huge boots and had
