Sophie begins receiving mysterious messages from the Black Swan, while dealing with a new school year, new classes, and new professors. Sophie must decipher the messages to find out what further secrets are hidden in her memories and what further abilities the Black Swan engineered her with.

Sophie's life just can't get back to normal--maybe because it never was! She's survived being kidnapped, interrogated, and having to fight her way home. Can she handle what's coming? Because of her remarkable abilities, she's tasked with something no child her age should have to face. When the unthinkable happens and someone she loves dearly winds up paying the price, she's left asking herself if it's her fault. And, can she fix it? The author skillfully takes Sophie to her limit, endangering (though I didn't quite understand how) the entire Elvin culture in the process. I promise, there's a happy ending! With the door wide open for this fascinating story to continue.

    March 2013:
This sequel to 'The Keeper of the Lost Cities' is fantastic and totally unexpected. Messenger has the ability to totally surprise her readers and 'Exile' is no exception!

While the book is a little long and could have been a little shorter, I loved this read. It was completely different than what I expected and honestly, I devoured it! This series has quickly become one of my favorites! (Now, the long- long wait begins for book three!)

    -----------------------------------

I've said this before and I have to it again-- If I had a TARDIS (aka a time machine), I would totally be stopping by October 2013 to grab this sequel!

A mere 6 months or so after reading the original novel as an ARC, I have just finished re-reading it in a sparkling new hardcover. Such a great story. I *really* need the sequel! :)

I love the world that Shannon Messenger creates. Her characters are strong, her atmosphere's exciting, and her adventures are wonderful to share with my kids. We all enjoyed this book and are looking forward to the last installment in the series.

A fun, imaginative book with a surprising amount of darkness. However, Sophie is kind of insufferable as a heroine--she's the most perfect snowflake ever, and all the boys are in love with her, etc etc.
