INTRODUCTION

As a present to the society, including friends, family, and accomplices, train your dog in the best manners. Doing so translates to sanity for you, protection for your dog, and praises from people you encounter. Make him the perfect role model for all dogs in your vicinity.

So, how do you ensure the 8 to 16 years life expectancy of your dog is one that’s spent on the best terms possible? That is, how do you carry out the training process? For you to effectively train your dog, it’s important to first be able to understand his language. Now, so much of misinformation or incomplete knowledge lies on the internet regarding how to understand a dog. If you've been a victim of such half-baked resources, I feel sorry for you because I understand and can imagine how frustrating one’s life can be in such a situation.

That’s why in this book, I’ll attempt to give you a comprehensive overview of all you need to know regarding understanding your dog. In addition, I’ll show you how you can build on that fundamental knowledge to train your dogs to run tasks and various other necessities. Believe me, it will well be worth the read.

It’s therefore important that you know his personality, so you can consider this as you care for him.

Using your observation skills, you should constantly profile your dog as you two interact from time to time. Paying deliberate attention to his body postures such as the direction of the eyes, the positioning of the tail, the directions of the ears and paws, and many more - at various times and moods - helps to predict and read your dog effectively. For example, when you know the normal facial expression of your dog, you'd be able to tell when his face and tail gives him away that he wants to jump-on and steal food from the counter.

Heck, another reason why you should consider profiling your dog's personality lies in the fact that doing so helps you determine how best to train him, to achieve your desired goals.

Learn your dog's drives

Your dog is like yourself. It's an individual born into the world with a predetermined set of inherited and transmitted traits. The intensity of those traits, how many of them are usually at work simultaneously, determines the dog's personality and behavior pattern. Dogs are generally propelled to do
