About this ebook

During the years 2012-2016, a series of ‘coincidences’ and events in Greece, Ireland, Zurich and London became the reason for offering advice for life regarding time, happiness, freedom, love, authorship and whatever else concerns our existence in general. Gaining practical value, these pieces of advice gave birth to this book out of great gratitude.

    INSTEAD OF A PREFACE

The day I had agreed with the publisher to hand in my manuscript about Oscar for review and publication was nearing. I had already written the preface where I was introducing myself. Namely, that I was Evi (Stavroula) Tsaousaki, that I have been a jewelry designer for twenty-two years and that I had nothing to do with Spiritualism up until my forties.

But suddenly, something unexpected happened and right after that event, I decided to introduce my book with something I came to realize.

In those days that I was about to hand in my book manuscript about Oscar to my publisher, the joy that I should have been feeling about this fact was being stolen away by the illness of my father. Months before, my father had made up his mind not to receive any treatment for his lung cancer and right there and then he was in his deathbed at home with an oxygen supply mask on, on the drip and with a palliative care nurse around him. Along with Angie, my sister, we had decided to respect his wish and keep him at home.

Between these events – the publication of my book and my moribund father - I fell and broke my leg badly at three points and dislocated my ankle. Doctors told me that I had sustained a comminuted fracture and that I would need to be operated on immediately – they would proceed with osteosynthesis – and that I would walk again after three months’ time.

The post-operative pain in the hospital was indescribable. My pain threshold is high but the level of those pains was a completely new experience for me…And then…during such an agonizing night at the hospital, I came to realize something. That the pain of the soul does not compare to the pain of the body.

When our soul is in pain because of injustice, betrayal or loss or when it carries wrath that has not healed, there might be years or even a lifetime where that pain, which is so treacherously severe, may sap our happiness, affect our treatment of other people, or even worse, make us sick.

To make a long story short, I came to realize that the pain of the soul is far more severe than bodily pain. Then I realized that the healing of the soul was the holiest thing that a human being can perform. And then I thought that if my book that contains Oscar’s advice can be of help to even a single person, even one…then I would be truly grateful.

Right this moment that I am writing these words, I am in bed, at the house of my sick father, sharing the same nurse! When my friends learned about this, they did not know whether to cry or laugh.

The situation is really tragicomic! I also rented a wheelchair for the upcoming funeral that my sister and I are expecting any day now.

If you understood the message of my new foreword, you may continue with the narrative
