About this ebook

A simple fixed strategy is a strategy to bet the same fixed amount of money on a particular event, for example that a home team wins, for all games in a pre-selected group of games.

In this book calculations of profitability of fixed strategies in hockey for 2009-2019 NHL seasons are presented.

All games are divided on groups, based on implied probabilities or which team is a home team or an away team. For each group profitability (return on investment -ROI) is calculated for each season. For example, if we look into the table with games where Carolina Hurricanes was a home team, we can see that betting on away teams in 2012-2013 season would give us over +60% return on all bets. If we look into the table with games where average implied probabilities for a home team to win are in the range of [60%,70%], we see that betting on away teams would give us over +250% return on all bets in 2011-2012 season.

    Preface

    Implied by odds probabilities are calculated in the following way:

    z=1/oh+1/od+1/oa, where

    oh are final odds that a home team will win

    od are final odds that will be a draw

    oa are final odds that an away team will win

    ph=1/(z*oh) is an implied probability that the home team will win

    ph(%)=ph*100%

    The tables below present returns on investments (ROIs) for each group in a particular season with the last year of the season
