Book 1 - The Stolen Honor

    The Wild Lands

The camp was quiet. Subtle sounds of crickets off in the tall grass. The slight sizzle of the soup they had cooking overnight. Obediah was the only one awake. Laying under a blanket staring into the night sky, reminiscing on what had happened that day. The silver theft was almost a success. If he had been a bit more subtle, he wouldn’t be sleeping in a tent that night. But he had bigger things to worry about.

That day, the camp leader had been kidnapped. Vincent Morrison was getting to old for this job. The camp was getting death threats daily. Obediah got up and got dressed. He wore the same old coat every single day. It was an expensive brown leather jacket. He bought it while he was drunk after a night at the saloon. He wore black pants that had a jean-type material. The general store had so many unique items in stock. Obediah had a perfectly trimmed dark brown beard, same with his hair.

Obediah had a warm bowl of soup for breakfast before riding off to the general store. On some mornings, he was always the first one there so he could get the good deals on whiskey. This town was Oxville. Small, but enough people there to keep a good reputation. The one downside was that this town is sketchy. You always gotta watch your back because you could get jumped at any moment.

Obediah rode into town on his mount. It was empty. The only people who were there were the shop owners. He tied up his mount and walked towards the general store. He couldn’t help but notice how quiet it was. Something isn’t right here. He knew this town wasn’t the safest place to be while it’s still dark.
