Unveiling Jesus Through His Incarnation - Pooja Chilukuri
Introduction
The newborn infant, the tangible expression of incarnation, is a piece of heaven that draws us into its core-untainted, unconditional love. But incarnation is not for the faint of heart. According to Ron Koertge, babies cry so much "because all of a sudden having a body is a lot to deal with." Yet, babies arrive on this planet daily, so spiritual beings may have a human experience (Pierre Teilhard de Chardin) and heaven’s finest gifts may be best realized through our material existence.
The baby that lay in a manger, over 2000 years ago in Bethlehem was such a gift. The angel announced his birth: "I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord." (Luke 2:11) The God consciousness, Jesus, bound in the frailty of the human flesh entered our world, not to add to the prevailing religious order but to replace it with a new one- Immanuel, meaning God with us.
Jesus’ birth was the pivotal event on which the historical timeline switched from BC to AD, a testament to the impact of his ministry of only three years. Two thousand years and counting, we can still recognize his influence, but has Jesus’ message been diluted or shrouded in religious and church practices over the ages? My spiritual journey bears witness that it has.
The veil of religious requirements that shroud Jesus ultimately led to a dismantling of my Christian faith-after having zealously pursued it despite my Hindu upbringing. After meeting Jesus in my closet (I share my story in my memoir And Then There Was Jesus), I set out to rebuild my faith. Seeing Jesus ‘come alive’ in the gospel accounts released me from the shame and judgement of a performance-based religious system, birthing in me the desire to unveil Jesus through stories (Once There Was Jesus) and reflections (Unveiling Jesus Through His Passion).
Unveiling Jesus Through His Incarnation purposes to draw the reader to the person of Jesus, his role in the Universe, and in our lives as recorded in the writings of the apostle John (The I Am Statements of Jesus) and the letters of the apostle Paul to the early churches, respectively. The reader may use these reflections to take a breath amidst the rush of Christmas festivities to meditate upon the beauty, purpose and mystery of the advent season. However, these reflections are not for Christmas alone. They may be used any time to refresh your soul, celebrate Jesus, and lead you to the one for whom his heart beats -you.

Jesus- The Word That Became Flesh
"…and that is how the word becomes flesh." In a flash, I hit the pause button. International lecturer and researcher, Dr. Joe Dispenza, had my attention. I zipped back past a few frames on the TED Talk video, I had been glued to. Did I miss something? How could Dr. Dispenza compress the vastness and totality of our human emotional experience into a single phrase? In my quest for understanding the science of behavior change, I had stumbled upon his lecture describing
