About the Author
Welcome To Paelstor
Welcome to the magical world of Paelstor: a land of seven seas and seven continents; a land full of life and fantastic mystery; a land where anything is possible; and a land where, today, we set off on a wondrous treasure hunt!
Volume 1: A Fuulish Beginning
The pitter-patter of small feet tapped through the old ruins, entering a massive chamber that vaulted high above and extended into shadows on all sides. Strange columns and ducts of metal pipes criss-crossed overhead and along the walls. They seemed to come together in bundles behind the most impressive thing in the room: the great statue.
Fawley Wessar stopped before the statue, a relic of an ancient culture, and adjusted his thick, round spectacles. Then he took an old timepiece from his shirt pocket, opened the cover, breathed on its face and rubbed it firmly with the corner of his tweed jacket.
The gnome stood before the towering form. His oddly-shaped head, bald but for some wispy, white hair, lifted as he ogled at the statue. It was a terrifying man-beast with menacing eyes, curved horns protruding from its head, and wings folded behind its back. In one of its stone claws was an orb, and in the other the beast held a great halberd. The blunt bottom end tapped the temple floor by the statue’s monstrous feet where they crossed with folded legs.
What do you make of it?
hissed a voice behind the gnome.
I don’t know, Luket,
the gnome shrugged. Some old god or demon maybe…
Yesss,
said Luket, who was one of the lizard people known as the basilen. But doesss it give any clue about the treasssure you ssseek, or perhapsss how to find it, at leassst?
Potentially,
the gnome mused, holding one hand in the crook of his arm and the other under his chin.
Don’t tell me,
a raspy woman’s voice followed. You don’t really know, do you?
Give me a minute, Xan,
Fawley urged. Just give me a minute.
Great, I knew this was a bad idea coming along on your foolish treasure hunt…
the horned zalt woman named Xan said. Have you ever even done this sort of thing before?
Once,
the gnome admitted. There was a vault back home that got locked and I figured out how to open it even when the rest of town couldn’t.
Real hero,
Xan mocked.
Passshienccce,
Luket requested.
