Do You Believe in a World Beyond Your Reality? All I Offer Is Truth, Truth of Our Experience…

Chapter 1: The Joy of a New Beginning

Our story began in 2007 when my girlfriend and I took an opportunity to get a mortgage loan for a house. This house was located in the housing estate where she had spent her childhood years growing up. Both of us had many relatives who had lived here in this estate in the past and the present. We were young and eager to move in together, as we had been with each other for six years. The person who previously owned the house was a man who had died many years previous to our interest in the home. My girlfriend’s parents knew the man and also knew his family.

We went to view the house before we applied for a loan, and when we walked in, it was not what we had expected it to be.

We knew it had three bedrooms as it was the standard size of the estate. But we did not expect it to be damp; with wallpaper hanging off the walls, and it also had a musky smell. It really looked like no one had lived there for a long time. The living area consisted of a range for cooking and heating purposes with a white enamel sink in the far corner of the room. The toilet was the size of a cubical toilet that one would see in a restaurant. After seeing the inside of the home, we both had second thoughts about applying for a loan. Were we going to take this home that had a lot of work to be done to it, with extra money needed to make it into the home we desired? Or were we going to let it go and hope that another opportunity would come about?

After discussing how we could make it into the home we wanted, we agreed to apply for a mortgage. Within a few weeks, our mortgage was approved. We were ecstatic but still felt anxious about how we were going to pull it all together.

We began the work as soon as we received the keys. I had already been working with my girlfriend’s father, John, in the construction area. John could do almost everything that needed to be done to build a house, as he learned his trade in the boom time in England in the ’80s. I had previously worked as a laborer for block layers and then moved on to work in carpentry; this too lost my interest. I then worked with John, and he showed me how to tile bathrooms and kitchens. This was a task I enjoyed. Between John and me, we had all the tools necessary to create a beautiful home. Stacey and I made the decision to buy this home on that basis, as the expense would be less.

At the weekends and most evenings, we would work on the house. This was very tiring, as we would be working on another job during the day also. We finished on the house within five months, with little bits of finishing work left that I could do myself in my spare time. We could not believe it; we finally had the home we had dreamed about. We thought of being peaceful and happy for many years to come, not knowing of the many nights of fear that were ahead of us…

    We Are Not Alone

When we renovated our home, we built on an extension for a kitchen and a toilet. We added a window and a skylight in the kitchen, which gave a lot of sunlight in the kitchen but gave little light to the living room next to it. And because it was a terrace house, we had no light coming from either side. The living room is situated in the center of the house, which also stops any light coming from the front of the house. This made our living room very dark all of the time; we had lights turned on 24/7 in the living room. The hallway was the darkest part of our home, with a solid wood door that had no glass to let in light; this is where we got our first feelings of eeriness. It’s hard to explain the feeling; you have to experience it to understand it. It was really cold and dark, and something just did not feel right. When we walked through the hall, we got an uncomfortable feeling like something was watching us.

    Fear Cage

A term used to describe a confined area such as a walk-in closet, hallway, or basement with very high electromagnetic field readings. The combination of being close and confined within an area of strong EMF often brings out extremely great feelings of uneasiness, anxiety, paranoia, or uncontrollable fear. (Long Island Paranormal Investigators 2003–2014)

As I slept at night, I felt a cold breeze on my back and neck. It made me very uncomfortable, and Stacey often felt the same. As we lay there at night feeling the discomfort, we would be drawn to the doorway. Nothing was there to be seen, but the sense of a presence was overwhelming. On many occasions, this happened, only we never submitted to the thoughts. We had no reason to be frightened. It was a new experience to live together without the comfort of our parents or siblings; it would take some time to get settled.

    Paranormal

These are events above the normal or everyday experiences. Events that cannot be readily explained by known conventional reasons or commonly accepted science. (Long Island Paranormal Investigators 2003–2014)

Stacey encountered something strange one day that she could not explain. When she was preparing the food for dinner, she noticed something out of the corner of her eye but thought it was me coming towards her. As it got closer, she realized it was not me. She looked at it and screamed with fright. I came running down the stairs to see if she was ok, as I was not sure what had happened. When I got to her, she was shaking. She said something had come towards her like a black mass, and when she turned and screamed, it vanished. We were unsure at this time what this black figure was. Little did we know that our dog would be next to reveal this entity.

    Entity

A generic, all-encompassing term used to describe a paranormal object/being that is presumed to be a ghost or spirit. Since no one is yet 100% sure what paranormal objects really are, the termentity is used to include any and all possible things such as ghosts, spirits, poltergeists, non-human spirits, etc. (Long Island Paranormal Investigators 2003–2014)

After a few months of living in our home, my sister rang my mobile phone asking if I would like to buy a dog, as her dog had a litter of nine pups. We said yes straight away. What a great addition to our home to have a dog that could guard our home and make us feel more secure at night when we slept. We went that evening to look at the litter. We noticed a shy pup that was getting pushed away from the food by the rest of the litter, and we had to take her. She was a white and brown Pit Bull Terrier.

As she got older, she turned out to be a great guard dog; she barked at any stranger who entered the house and would not stop till we said that it was ok. Most nights we let our dog in to lie down while we watched a movie on the television. Even at that, she was always alert, with her ears pointed in the air listening to sounds. When someone came in our front gate, she would hear them, so we always knew when someone was coming.

On this occasion, it was the same as usual; we were watching the television, our dog was lying down, and everything was fine. Then I noticed my dog looking at the living room door. The door was shut, so I was thinking, What is she looking at? Someone must be coming? But then she started growling, and within a second, she got up onto her four legs. The hair on her back stood in the air, and her teeth came out into full view; she did not like what she was looking at. Stacey and I jumped up off the sofa. We did not know what was happening, as we had never seen our dog acting like this before.

To make it even stranger, we could not see what she was looking at. I gently approached my dog and patted her on the back and spoke to her to try and calm her down. But she was not giving up on the other presence within the room. After 30–40 seconds, she calmed and her attention went away from the door. We were shaking; it was a terrifying experience. This incident had Stacey and I frightened. Those weird feelings we were having each night while walking through our hallway and lying in bed at night just became reality. That night I was 100% certain my dog was looking at some type of entity.

    Pets

All animals can perceive the negative vibrations emanating from ghosts, but they cannot identify the details like what is the type of ghost, its strength, its motive, what to do to defend oneself, etc. Dogs, horses, crows and cats are better known for their ability to perceive the presence of ghosts. (Spiritual Science Research Foundation)

On a hot day, I opened my front and back doors to let a breeze through the house. This allowed my dog the freedom to run back and forth through the house. One day, I had been in the kitchen making a sandwich when I heard my dog growling. I paid no heed to it until she got worse. I immediately thought a child had kicked a ball into our front yard and got in to get it. I dropped everything I was doing in fright, thinking my dog was going to attack the child. As I got to the hallway, I saw my dog standing there with her hackles raised and with her teeth showing; only her aggression was directed up the stairs. I immediately thought, Not again, and as I got closer, I looked up the stairs. I was not sure whether I wanted to see something standing there or not, but again, I could see nothing. The body language and the cold, vicious stare of my dog was enough for me to know there was something there.

Chapter 2: The Arrival of Our First Child

When we had our first child in August of 2010, we were so excited. It was one of the best moments of my life. They say all fathers say this, but the
