Terrible cliche waste of time. Your typical boy-falls-for-girl-in-arranged-marriage dreck with the exception that it’s two boys. The plot was predictable, the characters paper thin cutouts and the writing was so dull I can’t even remember a single sentence to quote.

I’m annoyed that this novella was recommended to me and even more annoyed I kept reading in hopes of hitting whatever made it worth recommending. I suppose the algorithm saw I like queer fiction and fantasy and this fits those genres but honestly, it’s such a find-and-replace story that it doesn’t feel like either. Even the explicit gay sex scene is yawn-inducing!
