About this ebook

A dark romance that transcends all boundaries of morality. Iwan is a dangerous criminal and he is a sadist. Sophia is his obsession. He will hurt her and he will push her limits. She is the only one who can give him what his dark heart demands. But can she save his soul?

Sophia:
The memory of Iwan falling to the ground is imprinted in my brain. But no matter how much I protest against Iwan's bodyguards driving me from the scene to an unknown future, the armored limousine rolls on and on. I don’t know what will happen to me now. I don’t know if I'll ever see Iwan again. The man who abducted and tortured me is probably dead and instead of feeling relief, I feel a deep loss that breaks me apart.

Iwan:
It's no fun to be shot. When the second bullet knocks me down, I know my life is forfeit. My only consolation is that my Sophia is safe. I see the limousine move away from the scene. My men will take care of her. I just wish I had confessed to her how much I love her. This is my only regret before the world around me turns black.

    Prologue

    Sophia

Horrified, I witnessed another shot hitting Iwan in the stomach and he went down. I screamed and tried to break away from Alex. The bodyguard cursed and grabbed me harder. Marco tore open the door to our armored limousine and I was roughly pushed inside. The two bodyguards climbed into the car after me, holding me down on the seat. Marco gave the driver the order to start driving and the limousine set in motion with screeching tires. I barely managed one last look through the tinted windows at the motionless man who had kidnapped and tortured me. The man who broke me. The man who, despite everything, somehow stole my heart. A silent scream came over my lips, and then everything went black around me.

    Chapter 1

    Sophia

When I came to, I felt disoriented. My world rocked slightly and I felt vibrations go through my body. A soft, monotonous humming was in my ears. The spirit of a bad feeling hovered over me. Something had happened, my head just couldn’t give me an answer to the question of what. A pain in my arm was noticeable. I opened my eyes and slowly took in my surroundings. I was in Iwan's limousine. His bodyguards sat opposite me. Iwan was not here. A knowing first spread out in my head, then in my heart. He had been shot. I’d seen him go down. Then I had fainted when the limousine moved away from the scene at breakneck speed. How much time had passed? Was he still alive? I sat up jerkily as panic seized my heart with clawed hands.

Stop that damn car! I yelled out of my mind. We have to go back right away! Iwan! We have to help him!

Alex and Marco looked at me sympathetically, but there was also a grim determination in their eyes. I knew that Iwan had given them instructions to take me to safety, but I had to convince them that we needed to rescue my captor. I could not lose him. He may have kidnapped me and held me against my will, but the things between us had changed. He had changed me. Or maybe he’d just shown me what had been hidden inside of me all along. He had freed me in a way and I had come to the point where no shackles were needed to keep me with him. I had no idea where this new development would take us, but I was not ready to give it up yet. I wanted to find out. I couldn’t lose Iwan. I had to do something.

Sorry, but we have our instructions, Alex said as expected.

I don’t care! I shouted on the border of hysteria. We have to save him!

No! Said Marco determined. First, we're instructed to get you to safety at any cost, and second, Iwan is most probably already dead.

NOOOOOOOO! I bellowed, before rushing at Marco and hitting him with my fists. I didn’t want to hear about it. He couldn’t – he wasn’t allowed to – be dead!

Marco showed no emotion as I assaulted him. For a while, he allowed me to beat him, then grabbed me by the arms and shook me.

Enough! He said sharply. Screaming doesn’t bring Iwan back. We cannot help him anymore, but we will honor his last wish and protect you. – And if need be, even before your own stupid self!

Iwan is dead! Iwan is dead! Iwan is dead!

Again and again, this one thought went through my head like a bad mantra. The man who had kidnapped me, who tormented me and made me feel like I could have never imagined, was probably lying in a huge pool of his own blood. This was all my fault! He'd protected me from the bullets with his own body and then he'd sent me off with his bodyguards and sacrificed himself so Alex and Marco could get me to safety. My soul cried out at the thought.

No! No! No! He cannot be dead! He cannot be dead! Iwan is too strong! Indestructible! He lives! He has to live!

He can not be dead! If only we drive back ... I began in despair.

No! Alex interrupted in a hard voice. "Get it out of your head. We will not turn around. We will not disregard Iwan's instructions. We will take you to safety and that’s the end of it!"

Pleeease! I'll take all the blame if Iwan's mad at you because of his instructions ...

I said NO! Alex snapped. Forget it or I have to knock you out for the rest of the ride.

The thought that we could go back and maybe save Iwan was the only hope that had kept me upright. When Alex nullified
