Introduction
Like many people out there, you’re probably looking for that one financial solution that ends all your money problems and frustration, am I right?
Of course, I am! But we know that making money outside of a job is a daunting task and a headache for most.
Coming up with an idea of what to do can be one of the hardest parts of starting up a business, and let’s face it, we’ve got a very slim chance of starting the next Facebook or Uber.
So here we are. It’s the property game, one of the most lucrative, sustainable business models out there that have made the most millionaires in history and also one of the very few that have the best blueprint to follow with regard to creating wealth in a step by step format.
I know it’s scary. It was very scary for me too, especially at the beginning. But aren’t all kinds of business? Especially if you don’t have previous experience or education relevant to this industry.
This is normal especially due to the fact that while real estate investment can be an extremely lucrative business no matter how old you are, it normally requires lots of time commitment and of course, a huge amount of money — or extremely good credit — just to get started. If you happen to be a busy millennial with not a lot of cash to spare, then a real estate investment trust or REIT might be a good place for you to start. But there are also many other alternatives.
Now, let’s go back to the most important question to answer when investing in real estate... can you afford it?
I said the most important
because it’s an expensive endeavour to dive into, so looking into your budget should be a priority. Unless you have a lot of money laying around, you’ll probably need to take alternative options for getting started with your investment. Investing in real estate is definitely a serious commitment, and your financial capability controls your ability to run this business.
Another question that you need to answer is... why?
You have to really understand your purpose as to why you want to invest in the real estate business. If you’re investing to meet the needs of your family, then it would be smart to look at the land’s papers and formalities like electricity, water, and the road connectivity to the estate. The location’s proximity to shops, schools, and other establishments are some of the other things you must consider. If you’re investing in a house that you’re planning to turn into a home, then you must put a great consideration to the home’s interior to see the extent of repairs that are necessary to make it comfortable to live in for you and your family.
If you’re buying the estate exclusively for the purpose of reselling later on, then you must do more research on your choice of investment. You need to be aware of how much of an appreciation the land goes through and also analyse which areas are the ones that are going to bring you a return on investment. This is important as you don’t want to put all your investment money on something that may not sell.
These points are only two of the important things you must consider when you want to invest in real estate – there are other important things you must know to be successful at it.
In this book, I’m going to give you a walkthrough on everything you need to know when investing in real estate and how to go about it to attain success in it.
Chapter 1: Why Invest in Real Estate?
The idea might just randomly come into your mind, or perhaps it’s something that has always been bugging your mind. It might be a thoughtful little passing fantasy about purchasing that small seemingly abandoned house down the road and renovating it to sell for a profit. Or perhaps, you have considered buying a rental property and get rent to cover the mortgage. Regardless of how the idea formed in your mind, the important thing is that you’ve taken the step to learn how the world of real estate investment works.
Now, you know your personal reason... but the question is that, why is it a good idea?
The answer is that there is exceptional potential for revenue in real estate investment.
Investing in real estate is a sure-fire way of generating money and boosting your net worth. The money you make will likely depend on your knowledge, dedication, and game plan. There’s no magic formula when it comes to real estate investment. Regardless of how simple the late-night millionaire's
