Introduction

God is alive and well in business!

..but maybe you do not see God in your work or you feel your workplace is not fully living out its God-ordained destiny. Whether you own several businesses, work in ministry, or are just starting your first job, this ebook is for YOU! As you may know, I recently wrote a book called The Business of Honor with Danny Silk. I did this because I am passionate about exploring and revealing how God is present in business. After writing The Business of Honor, some of the feedback I received was that readers were wanting to know more about how to hear and understand what God has to say about practical things in business like negotiations, overcoming obstacles, success, failure, creating a legacy, financial structure, and relationships. In the church, it seems very few people have had the chance to learn that God has a lot to say about work and business! In fact, most Christians are shocked when I tell them that the words ‘work’ and ‘finances’ are used more in the Bible than the word ‘love.’ Tist tells us that God certainly does have a lot to say about work!

A big part of the very identity of God and Jesus is that they worked. We are made in his image, and so we are operating in our God-given identity when we partake in this activity. Unfortunately, many of us have felt that we have to compartmentalize our lives and so we have created a divide between business time and God time. Of course, this looks different than how it looks in a church building, but I believe there has been a lack of support, information, and teaching to help the Body of Christ know what it looks like to pray without ceasing at work and follow 1 Corinthians 10:31, which tells us to give all the glory to God.

My heart in creating God’s Thoughts on Business is that we can all learn from and be inspired by each other to know what God thinks about business and share that with our family, friends, and churches. The backgrounds and perspectives in this ebook vary drastically. Chapter I

God Has Solutions For You

I was sitting with an amazing entrepreneur who was in his third startup, but as things happen at times, all three were in crisis. He has been a friend for a while and called to see if we can talk. I have tried everything that worked so well for the other two businesses for the third one and it is failing. We have the right product that is unique at the right time and I just don’t know what to do. The bottom is falling out. He described his world for me and he was at the place that many of us have been at: he was too successful to stay where he was at, he had to scale up (and fast) or go backward, sacrificing two out of the three companies. He was terrified.

What is God showing you? I asked.

"Just to keep going forward but there are no details, no
