Chapter 1
Heldor falls on the side of the bed pallet next to the comely widow with soft supple thighs and a sweet honey pot. Her bedroom window is open and the cool air passing all over his sweating body and still wet cock feels like bliss.
Elna extends a hand over his hard well defined abdomen and sighs in contentment next to him. Do you have to go?
She whines.
Heldor removes her hand and gets up to pick up his clothes, shoving himself in them quickly. He knows the next question she will ask after this, why do you have to marry her when you can just marry me?
The truth is, when he was a young boy he wanted to marry Elna but he was the third son of the Dhuma, she married someone else then and he was trained to be a warrior. After a disease that came and wiped out a lot of people in his tribe including his father and two older brothers, he became the leader of a beaten down tribe.
At thirty-five he has a dead wife and a young daughter. Elna is thirty-three, hardly the ripe child bearing age and she already has three grown sons. He needs a young fertile woman to give him sons.
I will be your concubine.
Elna says, getting up from her bed with her glorious fire coloured hair and still beautiful body. She knows the effect her body has on men and is using it to seduce Heldor. She can see lust gathering in his eyes again but knows he has to go and pick up his young bride.
You accept all the consequences?
He asks her. Being a concubine of the Dhuma has consequences, when his wife the Ahuma ever crosses eyes with the concubine, she has the right to behead the concubine herself.
I am, however I doubt a Maghanoh woman will have the guts to actually kill me. I hear they are weak willed and piss themselves in their pants.
She comments smugly, the healer tribe are not known to be violent.
Watch your tongue woman, you may have my affection and favour but that weak willed simpleton you speak of will be my wife and your Ahuma. Let not I be the first to inflict punishment upon you by cutting off you very clever tongue.
He warns her dangerously, he will not have anyone disrespecting his wife, even if she will be not more than a brooding mare.
Forgive me Heldor, I tend to speak without sense at times.
She says acting sincere, wrapping her hands around his waist. The fact that he is already giving her such reverence already, irks her. Elna hopes the girl is ugly and bucktoothed.
Heldor is sitting in a ship headed to Spildezer. Part of his betrothment agreement was to neutralise the threat the Spildezer’s have been to the Maghanoh. The battle will be easy enough, he has faced tougher and larger tribes and the fact that the Spildezer’s are threatening a tribe of healers shows how weak they are.
The Maghanoh will provide him with twenty healers. The healers will assist his people with much needed help that is majorly lacking.
I hear the Maghanoh tell their children stories of the Yvegne to scare them into obedience. We are the boogie men over there. How do you think your virginal young bride will receive you?
Melez, his right hand man and best friend asks him.
He is the only one brave enough to ask him such a question. Heldor is known for his ruthlessness and is not nicknamed The Beast for nothing. When he fights with a tribe he does it without mercy and very few live to tell the tale. Born crusher is another one. The are whispers about how his wife died at his hands.
So long as she is fertile and gives me at least one son then she has nothing to worry about. I just hope she will not swoon at the sight of me.
He tells his friend honestly. He is not hoping to be friends or fall in love with the girl, she is almost half his age, seventeen summers to his thirty and five, but deathly fear will not be his ideal choice of emotion to come from her.
We will just have to see my friend.
Melez says slapping his friends shoulder. There is a high chance the girl will fear him, stories that he crushed his dead wife's skull in a fit of anger are popular.
They arrive at the Spildezer village and with his forty warriors, they manage to fight and overthrow the small village. The place is only a fraction of his big chiefdom. The Maghanoh are similar in size to the Spildezer’s. He doesn't mind one village raiding another so long as it is not his, but it is generally taboo everywhere to attack and rape a village of healers. The healers help everyone who needs help without asking for anything in return. The Spildezer’s are what someone can call the scum of the earth. Heldor's own people would have all been wiped out had they not received help from the Maghanoh.
The leader is brought to him by one of his men while he wipes his sword on his clothing. All men who fought in resistance to them have been put to death. There is nothing in this village that he and his men could pillage. Misery and poverty abounds.
The simpering leader looks at him with eyes full of fear. He knows his fate. The Beast stands before him with a death sentence written in blood on his sword.
All the villages you could have pillaged, you choose a humble healer village.
Heldor says with disgust. There is no victory in terrorising the weak.
The leader starts mumbling, begging for his life. Even when faced with an obvious death, he still can't show dignity.
Stand still, this will be much painful for you if you struggle.
Melez tells him.
The man kneels and bows his head with snort running down his nose, it is a pathetic sight. Heldor raises his sword and smoothly brings it down, slicing off the head of the Spildezer leader while the whole village looks on. Only women, young children and old men remain.
He raises the head of their dead leader whose body is still shaking out the last remnants of life bleeding on the ground Let this be a warning to all of you, if anyone touches the healer tribe of the Maghanoh, you will follow your leader in hell.
Heldor shouts for all to hear him. Fear is coated in their eyes. The Beast has ravaged their village.
He walks away with the head and his men follow him, he then gives it to one of them with instructions Ride ahead and take this head to my soon to be father-in-law with a message.
He says to one of his warriors, Vestor and gives him an additional message.
Nira, your father requests your presence.
Rothko, one of the guards of the Maghanoh chief informs the dark haired girl helping the local women with soap making.
She looks up with her hair sticking out from her loose braid and hazel eyes. Nira wonders what her father wants and she wipes her hands on her brown coloured dress.
They walk back at a steady pace to the Chiefs hat, Nira finds her father sitting on his chair looking pensive, the situation must be serious.
Father, are you feeling alright? You requested for me.
She asks him. Was there a request for help from a village and some healers have to travel there?
Jhona gives her a weak smile, he is going to give his sweet child to someone nicknamed the beast. Rumours about Heldor show him not to be a wise choice of husband especially for someone who is sweet natured like Nira.
Come and sit by my feet child, I have something important to tell you.
He says. Nira being the meek daughter she is does not hesitate to sit with her father.
Yes father.
She prompts him.
I have found a husband for you dear.
He says to her slowly, trying to gauge her reaction. He knows that his daughter has a growing affection for one of the pigeon handlers.
Gilfort is a good dependable young man who is going to make a perfect leader for the Maghanoh, but growing threats means
