About this ebook
As the number one suspect in the court of public opinion, Deuce is determined to clear his name, with a little help from his wife Julianne, a high-powered attorney who lovingly refers to him as her "househusband." His search for the killer leads him to a business plan gone awry and a gaggle of jilted lovers. All the while, he'll have to contend with a diminutive but feisty detective, the ruthless preschool PTA, and more than his fair share of Texas-sized hairdos--not to mention the laundry. . .

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Deuce Winters is house husband extraordinaire. He runs the errands, does the laundry, cooks the meals, and cleans the house. He does all this and still takes most careful care of three year Carly while lawyer mom brings home the bacon. While Deuce had been a coach and teacher, he and his wife realistically concluded that she would earn more money that he ever could, and that Carly would be far better off with dad rather than with a paid care giver. So he enriches Carly’s life 24/7 and mom is there when she not busy being a high-powered attorney. Unfortunately for Deuce, this idyllic life starts to unravel when the husband of Deuce’s old girlfriend turns up dead in Deuce’s minivan. This tale is sure to entertain and amuse you as Deuce tries to uncover the murderer with the help of a dwarf detective who was first hired to investigate Deuce. With likable characters and an interesting plot that will grab you from the very start, this novel will have you reaching for the next book in the series.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Deuce Winters is that rare individual, a stay-at-home dad. Living in the small town of Rose Petal, Texas with his beautiful, intelligent, funny and successful lawyer wife Julianne and their three-yr-old daughter Carly, Deuce spends his days doing laundry, cleaning, cooking and caring for Carly. For three years the town of Rose Petal thinks Deuce can’t find a job, but Deuce is happy being a stay-at-home dad while his wife is the breadwinner. His days are busy, happy and normal. That is, until the day he comes out of the grocery store with Carly and finds a dead body in his minivan and most of the dimwitted gossips think Deuce is the murderer.I loved this book! I haven’t laughed so much during a murder mystery since I read the Arly Hanks series by Joan Hess. Who says all murder mysteries need to be serious or dangerous? There are many moments of giggling, laughing and outright guffaws during this book. In fact, there was one instance of tears as I…*giggling, chortling, gasping* Sorry. I was just replaying the instance in my head and had an uncontrollable fit of the giggles.Well-written, smooth-flowing and hilarious. I love Deuce’s observations of his fellow citizens, Julianne’s fierceness and intelligence and Carly’s cuteness. And let’s not forget the colorful characters in this town. I am so looking forward to the next book in Deuce’s mystery series coming out in October.*The publisher provided a copy of this book for me to review. Please see disclaimer page on my blog.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Fresh and funny. The main character of this new series is a stay-at-home dad with a cute and witty three-year-old daughter and a smart, beautiful, funny wife (described as "Sandra Bullock with an attitude). Deuce and his family live in his old home town, complete with old grudges, small-town attitudes toward new ideas, and more-than-healthy interest in other people's business. An old high school rival reappears in Deuce's life in the form of a dead body in the back seat of his minivan. Too soon, he finds himself the target of a restraining order, a club to the back of the head, an investigation by a private investigator who is a dwarf, and an attempted coup aimed at driving him from his position as Room Dad at Carly's preschool. The mystery is just passable, but the characters, the small-town feel, the wit and humor of the writing is wonderful. I'll definitely be reading the next in the series.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Being a stay at home dad to a smart preschooler named Carly can't be easy, but Deuce Winters, former football star, sure tries. In the small town of Rose Petal, Texas (where people still think he's still been sending out resumes for three years), not much happens that everyone doesn't know about. So when a body shows up in the Deuce's mini-van, the assumption is that Deuce is involved, even though he hasn't crossed paths with Benny since he wrecked Deuce's knee on the football field. Deuce's wife Julianne is a smart character, ready with one liners to keep up with Deuce. The mystery moves along at an ok pace, the real enjoyment in this story is meeting all of the characters in the beginning of this series. From Deuce's parents, the Women of Rettler-Mott school, and a small but challenging investigator named Victor, they are all funny and complete people to populate this story. Very glad I picked it up and can't wait to start the next one.
