About this ebook

A Texas mogul suspected of murder needs the help of a beautiful PI in the New York Times bestselling author’s “nail-biter of a romantic thriller” (Publishers Weekly).

Race car driver turned business mogul Beau Reese is furious with his lecherous father, former state senator Stewart Reese, when he learns that the old man has impregnated a teenager. But then he learns that the unrepentant Stewart has yet another woman is living with him.

Assuming that stunning Cassidy Jones is his father’s latest mistress, Beau can barely contain his anger—until he finds Stewart dead on the floor of his study. Then Cassidy walks in to find Beau holding the murder weapon.

Someone was following Stewart, and Cassidy is the detective hired to find out who and why. Now she’ll have to find his killer instead. Her gut tells her it wasn’t Beau. And Beau’s instincts tell him it wasn’t Cassidy. To clear their names and track down the truth, they form an uneasy alliance—one that will bring them dangerously close.

KAT MARTIN

For New York Times bestselling author Kat Martin, a career in real estate led her down the road to romance. Through real estate, Kat found her own perfect match — her husband, Western author Larry Jay Martin. "We were on opposing sides of a transaction — I represented the seller and he represented the buyer," Kat recalls. A short time after the two became acquainted, Larry asked her to read an unpublished manuscript of an historical western he'd written. Kat fell in love with both the book and the author! "It was quite a romantic story," she admits. "I'd still like to see it get published." Then, after doing some editing for her future husband, she thought she'd try her own hand at writing. Kat moved on to become the bestselling author of over thirty historical and contemporary romance novels. To date, 10 million copies of her books are in print, and she's been published around the globe, including Germany, Norway, Sweden, China, Korea, Bulgaria, Russia, England, South Africa, Italy, Spain, Argentina and Greece. When she's not writing, Kat also enjoys skiing and traveling, particularly to Europe. Currently, she's busy writing her next book. Kat loves to hear from readers via her email: katmartin@katbooks.com

Received an ARC at no cost to author. It tend to enjoy Kat Martins book, I have been following her for years and as much as I was anxiously awaiting for this book it wasn't my favorite, not bad just not my favorite. So we met Beau in last book Beyond Reason, he was Linc's best friend and I was intrigued by him. Poor Beau found his father murdered and even though they had a difficult relationship he still wanted to know who killed him. The Senator (Beau's dad) had felt that someone was following him so he hired a PI by the name of Cassidy, and she was is also now Beau's love interest. I got say this is why I wasn't crazy about Beau, I didn't like her, from the get go and even though I enjoyed the rest of the book, she just never did it for me. I was happy to read about previous characters but kind of hoped they had just a little more time in this book, juuuuust a little. Anyhoo, still a fan and now hoping to read Josh's story.
