    Bloody Hell

Conan felt his heart skip a few beats and even though he was once more a young man in his prime, and not the failing older man who had died and transitioned to this new world, yet he felt like he was losing his life before him. For standing erect in a posture of supreme triumph stood one of the most hideous and frightening creatures he had ever laid eyes upon and had seen quite a few since joining the Brotherhood of Baker Street.

By Jove, that thing must be straight from the darkest hell! He muttered, crossing himself.

Challenger turned to him. Are you afraid, Conan?

    For my very soul.

And right you should be. Challenger agreed, turning to Harry next.

This is not what we thought we would find, is it?

Harry turned a pale face towards his companions. The Tesla light in his hand barely lit his face, but it was enough to reveal the fears playing across his dark features. Harry was not one to be frightened easily, nor Challenger, but Conan felt a sub current of that running in both men at that moment. It is worse.

The Shadow Lord is the most feared of demons on both sides of the universe. Harry continued. He turned his eyes on the statue erected in the giant chamber they stood at the lip of. He was believed to be more powerful, even that the dreaded Lucifer.

He waved a strong finger towards the looming statue before them. This thing is the most appalling representation of evil my eyes have ever laid upon.

The Dark Wars. Harry uttered hesitantly.

Have nothing to do with this creature. Challenger said swiftly in response.

Then you think we have been misled? Conan butted in.

More than so. Challenger said in a mysterious tone of voice.

Harry looked at his friend. You think the attack on the Queen, all the clues to this point in time...

Have been to mislead us. To direct our energies away from what was the true goal.

Challenger looked at both his friends. We must return to London immediately for I fear our realm is in the gravest of dangers.

Harry, Conan pleaded. Surely you have some kind of magic to do just that?

Harry smiled weakly. Yes, it's called our feet. With that he plunged back the way they had come.

They reached the cavern floor below leading out to the seashore, when the ground began to shake. They were flung to the slick, briny floor of the giant sea cave. Moments later the opening behind them made a horrible sound, as if it were being ripped wider by hands of enormous power and strength.

Conan rolled over to look. Bloody Hell! He cursed.

Harry and Challenger jumped to their feet and gave Conan a hand as they all kept their eyes on the monstrous creature that had been a statue but moments ago peer out the opening it
