About this ebook

"He's changed!" Professor Challenger cries out.

"Watson is no longer...Watson!"

"No!" Holmes replies.

Harry Houdini shakes his head. "Holmes, there is very much the possibility that you have lost your friend...forever!"

"I will not accept that!" Holmes shoots back. "Never!"

The war that began in the Case of the Risen continues, but now it has struck even into the heart of Baker Street.

Into the very heart of Holmes himself.

How will he and his friends deal with the spreading infection that has spread malicously throughout London and soon the very world itself?

    Author’s Note

    Battle Ready

Tall, his muscles corded and a six pack to make the strongest of men envious stood on the edge of a rooftop, hands to his mouth finishing his challenge...known as the Dragon Challenge.

He used it in Fairie to challenge the evil he had to fight there on an almost daily basis. He had read a famous author’s book about a savage who used odd mating calls to scare his opponents. He had also practiced various martial arts where a cry of an odd kind was seen as advantageous in a fight.

He didn’t care. He did it because it allowed him to express his inner nature. He felt wild, free and unfettered, just like he did in Fairie before he met Lady Shareen and mated with her.

His bronze skin was oiled by sweat at the moment, but not so much that indicated he was weakened. Quite the opposite; it meant he was just starting to feel his strength. Others got weak when they exerted, but he became stronger, more powerful.

Had anyone been able to see him standing there so regally, like a proud dragon unfolding its wings in challenge on a mountain peak, they would have seen a man wearing only a loin cloth and nothing else. He only wore that because Lady Shareen would not have him do anything less in a public domain such as London.

He smiled. Sometimes he cheated on his promise; when he knew no one would see. Otherwise he honored her request of him utterly.

He was nothing, if not noble and of high honor.

    He called out once more.

Not because he thought it would bring the savage beast he suspected into the open. After what had happened to Watson, he suspected the creatures were anything but brave. They were cowardly and they were devious. He would have to talk with Jules and Wells about them, because this thing brought back an aroma of a story they had once regaled him of.

Satisfied, he dropped from the ledge, then ran for the opposing one. He reached its edge and then leaped into the air. Like a graceful ballerina with her arms and legs flaring outwards, he flew across the gap between the high structures and continued running.

While some would have thought this a bit careless, he might overlook something; he did not.
