About this ebook

Elli likes everything to be perfect, especially in the courtroom. Representing a jackass who happens to be her big brother’s best friend is annoying, to say the least. But when disturbing late-night phone calls begin to surface, having a sexy bad guy to watch her doesn’t seem so horrible after all . . . as long as she doesn’t stare too long at those gorgeous eyes that speak of dirty things.

Up to his nuts in trouble, Dane Cole is lucky to have Eleanor Woods, one of the toughest criminal attorneys in the city. She’s gorgeous and loves to argue, is strict and wears her hair back in a tight bun, and has an ass that begs for a smack. When her life is threatened, Dane is sent to watch over her. They soon learn that danger often leads to excitement, but can he keep her safe from a stalker when his own control is stretched beyond the edge?

Shady Grace makes Northern Ontario her home, where the bush is so thick you can’t see two feet past the tree line.Perhaps the mystery of the woods was what initially sparked her need to write. She adores strong alpha males who fall for fiery, independent women, in settings with humorous dialogue and action-filled plots.Shady believes love and sex should be exciting and unforgettable. Being able to write about it is better than cheesecake.Shady Grace is the new pen name to mutli-published erotic author, BL Bonita, who received a starred review from Publishers Weekly for her Interracial Western, Dark Sun Rising.

    CHAPTER ONE

    Will the defendant please rise.

Dane Cole stood up as ordered and faced Judge Nelson, the meanest son-of-a-bitch in a judicial robe. Dane’s blood pounded in his ears. His ass was about to be handed to him, and he probably deserved it.

This scene may not be new to his twisted life on and off the streets, but every court appearance made him a little nervous. He’d been in front of the same judge, even sat in the same damn chair more times than he cared to count, but the obvious rage in the big man’s eyes made him fear for his life this time.

He rubbed his sweaty palms on his pants and tried to convince himself that this was just another day like all the others.

The judge glanced at the paper in his hands before fixing a cold glare at Dane. I don’t know how you did it, Mr. Cole, but since the witness has retracted his previous statements and left town — according to this report — I have no choice but to dismiss these charges. You are free to go.
