About this ebook

Do you experience stage fright, or are you not confident about where to begin or even what to say when called upon to deliver a speech?

If you experience any of the above then this book is a must-read for you. For some, stage fright can be completely devastating and nerve-wracking.

Public speaking has often been thought of as a gift – but with this book as a companion, anyone and that means truly anyone, can become a confident, crowd-pleasing and effective public speaker.

The book anchors you and provides you with a starter, in the form of quotations and anecdotes on perseverance, courage, leadership and inner strength from world experienced speakers and motivators. These anecdotes could be described as “strategic messages” that will help you have an easy take off when delivering a speech since getting started is the most challenging part of speech delivery.

The book prepares you to deliver a speech on any platform, be it social, educational, political, sporting, church and many more.

Certainly, you will find this book a formula for success as far as public speaking goes.

Dr Kenneth K.K. Boemah has been a teacher, a civil servant and also worked in the corporate world. It is his passion for excellence in whatever he does and having seen speakers challenged locally and on his overseas trips, that ushered him into coming up with this compendium to help readers deliver speeches effectively.

    Foreword

The enthusiasm to engage in this work, which is predominantly the collection of speeches, quotations and proverbs, dates back to my boyhood days when I was growing up under my father’s tutelage.

My dad prepared a chalkboard and titled it ‘Every Day’s Quotation’. It was my singular duty to look around for quotations, from magazines, newspapers, books and what have you, and write that quotation of the day on the board each morning, before I even had a bath.

This practice continued until I reached middle school and had to leave for boarding school. This was a habit I acquired as a child, so it became a part of me even into my teenage years. The spill-over effect is what culminated in this work, titled Spice Your Speech.

As I became an adult, I have been privileged to have read and listened to several motivational speakers, like Dr Myles Munroe, Les Brown, Anthony Robbins, Dr Tibane and many others. Inspired by the writings and talks of other great personalities, I started thinking of how one could put all these people’s ideas into one book to make for easy access and reference, particularly when one has to give a speech. It is this thought that finally gave birth to this work. Though the collection forms a very minute part of the dream, I still believe this collection will make some impact.

The work contains incredible success stories from some of the most famous people who turned their failures into extraordinary successes, against all odds. As one reads some of these stories, one will discover that success is possible for anyone and I say anyone despite the challenges or circumstances. Furthermore, it includes lessons on leadership, teamwork, change and perseverance.

I cherish the hope that this collection will travel the globe so that the purpose for which it was compiled will be realised, thereby fulfilling my childhood dreams as well.
