A WAY AWAY FROM HOME contains four stories about love in it's various stages: new, old, and lost.

"Always" follows three sisters as they travel home from a long trip to grandma's. All is good and well until the younger sisters wake up. Demanding food and accusing each other of criminal comes with the sibling package, but amid the chaos and confusion of it all, sisters will always make the best friends.

"Deal" follows bookstore employee, Nate, as he tries to impress a cute bookworm that is browsing the shelves. When she offers her number in exchange for finishing her A favorite book series, Nate realizes that he may be in over his head a little. Reading was not part of the job description.

In "Promise," Micah thinks that he is finally over his last girlfriend, Destiny, but that is put to the test when a box is delivered to his door at two in the morning with four impossible words written on it: "To Micah, From Destiny."

In "A Way Away From Home," Kenna catches a ride with a lady trucker named Gigi on her way home after a bad break up. When an ex of Gigi's strands them in a nearby town for a few ours, Kenna finds herself, opening up to Gigi about a big fight she had with her mom, and why it's taking her so long to get home. Will her mom forgive her for choices or will Kenna continue to wander the country in fear?

Mya Wells

Mya Wells is earning her BFA in creative writing. She writes young adult contemporary and urban fantasy prose, scripts, and poems with African American female protagonists. Growing up, she didn't come across young, black girls who did amazing things until high school. Wells is determined to write stories with young black protagonists so the generations to come know that they are extraordinary, too. Her first published work was a poem in the MCEC On the Move magazine in high school. She is a part of the Women in Film and Television and the Creative Writing Club at Full Sail University. When she isn't in writing mode, she enjoys playing basketball, singing and working out at her local boxing club.
