About this ebook
EXTREME POVERTY, SHAME ON HUMANITY!
ESSAY
Even the poorest countries have upper classes that live in opulence without caring for less fortunate citizens. Faced with these injustices, the author felt revulsion and, throughout his life, he sought means and resources to fight against poverty.
As a child, he himself lived in poverty, in a large family with insufficient resources. The experience of poverty and ease, as well as of all the intermediate states, gave him a critical eye to comment on the misdeeds of governments: cartels, monopolies, quotas, and so on: groups that come together to grab a larger share of the available wealth, to the prejudice of the less clever.
Illness reminded him that time was running out. Faced with this urgency, he denounces in these pages the abuses of the authorities and suggests ways to eliminate as many as possible of these injustices.
Louis R. Sylvio is the author of "Prendre son envol" an enlightening book on the vital force that inhabits every individual. Strongminded man full of ideas, he dreams of a better world, through a clearer vision and deeper understanding of improved social policies.

In memory of my brother William,
Who left us after a long illness.
My younger brother was a great man.
By his nobility, he rose high above
The mediocrity which surrounds us.
Integrating the POOR into the modern economy
has proved impossible until now.
The considerable investment that would be needed
to achieve this result is too high. No government
would consent to it.
The only HOPE for the poor would be to create for
them a parallel economy.

Note of the Author
NOTE of the AUTHOR
This book was written with a great sadness.
First, doctors were very pessimistic about my health and I feared I might not have time to publish it.
Second, the unnecessary human misery I had witnessed in underdeveloped countries added to my own pains.
Third, I also feared that it was useless, that whatever I did would not help.
Four, I could not devote to it the budget needed to make it a first class publication and I had to settle for less than was possible.
I hereby ask for forgiveness for the weaknesses that might have crept in in spite of my efforts, hoping that the opinions and advises expressed would warrant such forgiveness.
Luckily a tiny ray of hope kept me going months beyond what doctors anticipated.
When you read these lines, I’ll probably have left for a better world but if you feel that it has helped you or someone else, let me know in your prayers so I know it has not been in vain.
Louis R. Sylvio
INTRODUCTION
The planet earth, in its generosity, provides all that the creatures that inhabit it require. This is true not only for the animal and plant kingdom, but also for the human race.
Through the ages, human ingenuity has allowed them to adapt to climate changes, natural disasters, droughts, floods, earthquakes, and so on.
They learned to survive in the desert almost without water or resources, despite temperature around 45 degrees Centigrade. They also learned to conquer the cold: entire nations live a few kilometers from the North Pole, for centuries, without the help of modern technology.
The survivors from a shipwreck, who find themselves on a deserted island, adapt quickly to their new surroundings and can survive for years without the help of civilization. This is obvious in time of war: although almost all resources are monopolized by the conflict, the civilian population can still survive for years. The recent war in Syria has demonstrated it.
But what happens when life becomes too easy? Humans organize themselves in larger groups, start commercial exchanges, and develop know-how or technologies that allow them to accumulate wealth far beyond what is necessary for their survival.
Then how come do we find hundreds of abandoned children, surviving in the dumps of big
