About this ebook

How to adopt and take care of a dog?

Would you like to have a dog or your children insist on adopting one?

Existence seems a little too complicated and sad sometimes?

A puppy can brighten your day and bring you a lot of affection but it requires attention and availability.

Discover easy and cheap little guides that will help you to bring Nature into your daily life!

In this collection, we want to share with you our experiences both in breeding and care of small animals of all kinds. In our "Aventura Parc" we even had a mini zoo with rabbits, guinea pigs, chickens, chinchillas, quails and we tried to transmit to the little ones (and the big ones too!) the love for animals in giving them advice on how to take good care of them.

In this little book you will discover not only the story of Oscar, a very funny Basset Adi adopted since it was very small, with many anecdotes and characteristics of this breed, but also practical and useful tips to take care of any dog. Health, hygiene, food and communication with these intelligent and sensitive pets will have no secrets for you.

What are you going to find in this small guide?

Let's go!

Sincerely,

Adrian, Cristina & Olivier

    Introduction

    Hello!

Welcome to a new issue of our " Nature Passion " collection dedicated to man’s best friend: the dog. Soon we shall probably create a new collection " C’est la vie ", aiming to share with you our practical experiences in various areas of everyday life but with a humorous approach.

This booklet is dedicated to a very popular subject: a dog’s adoption, as well as to its care and needs. With his humor which will certainly put a smile on your face, Adrian will share with you Oscar’s story, his pet, a funny Basset you are about to discover.

As far as I am concerned, I shall tell you a thing or two of my experience with dogs as I have been having dogs since my childhood. I shall try to keep the humor in the background, even if I might not match Adi’s talent and therefore I shall present practical and useful advice and information that I gained in my canine experiences.

Many of us wanted at least once in a lifetime to have a dog. As a matter of fact, if you are reading these lines, you certainly belong to this majority. Reading Oscar’s story you shall learn not only about Adi’s experience in adopting and caring for a Basset, but also about the main characteristics of this breed. More general information will help you to care for any dog, pedigree or not.

We shall tell you about both the positive and the less fortunate experiences which will allow you to avoid or at least be prepared to overpass them.

We would like to point out that we updated our books regularly. Either to correct the small mistakes we all make and for which we apologise in advance, or to add new information we discover or we experiment or to update the technical data. We would like to warn you that many platforms DO NOT send you our updates. We tried to explain the utility of advertising at least the existence of a new version, but without any success. So, if you would like to have new versions of our ebooks, ask the platform from which you purchased them and you will benefit from this feature.

    Adi looking for Oscar

I’ve been flirting for quite some time with the idea of buying a pet dog. The hardest part was until I decided on the breed. It had to be a not very lively dog; even a lazy one if possible as I am a professional sedentary and by no means had I felt like owning a marathon-runner that would run out of breath several times a day. On the other hand it had to be a sociable dog; I didn’t need a guard or a protection dog. And last but not least it had to be a good dog that wouldn’t become hysterical if left at home alone.

In the end, I opted for a Basset Hound. It is a dog of medium to large size even if short-legged. Now at the age of 3, it weighs about 30 kg. It is sweet and cute with its short but thick legs. The front ones are disproportionately long compared to the rest of the body. It can be monochrome, bi-colored or tricolor: combinations of white, brown and black, but the tip of its tail must be white. About its ears, what to say ... If I attach a pole to its collar and I fixed its ears to it, he could participate with real chances to win any sailing contest, in the category of sailboats...
