Maddy

I have a secret. Well, the only one who knows is Hera, but I had to tell someone. I’ve been bursting at the seams with excitement. And it’s the perfect Christmas present for Chase. He’ll be thrilled. The big prick. He’s at his happiest when I’m in this predicament.

I’m pregnant. Again. Which shouldn’t be surprising, but this time, Chase is going to reel at the results of the ultrasound.

Speaking of big pricks, Hera, our kids and I are decorating the Christmas tree in the big room of M-Senior’s house when Chase walks in, speaking with Clark and M-Senior.

Ever since that seriously bad patch when Chase and I first got together, M-Senior’s been actually pretty…normal. At least for him anyways. We’ve come to a truce. And after Hera got shot, M-Senior has learned to adapt to the choice’s his sons have made for wives and we’ve been in a good place for the past several years. It’s been nice. He’s still a little standoffish about Travis, which I absolutely hate, but he doesn’t treat him any different when all the kids are around. Travis really doesn’t notice yet, so I march on.

They’re talking about whatever when Chase wraps his arms around me from behind, and he shoves his face into my curly mane.

Hey Maddy-mine. Mmmm…I could just eat you up, babe. Why do you say we head up to my old room and reacquaint ourselves?

I look around to find Clark whispering to Hera, who giggles. Sometimes I still can’t believe she’s so much younger than he is. Fourteen years! Chase is ten years older than me but fourteen? I almost couldn’t believe it when she told me how old she was that day we went into Chili’s. But then I saw the way they looked at each other since the beginning and I know they’ve never been more perfect for each other.

"Chase. We’re not done here yet. I can’t just walk out of here. You know they’ll know."

Chase sighs behind me and I know he’s rolling his eyes. Getting cock-blocked by the wife is just wrong, Madeline.
