Dedication
October, 2018;
I want to dedicate this book to my son Roger Alderman III. My primary reason for this comes from our many discussions about not giving up and always working to improve both himself and his works.

About the Author
Roger Alderman has always been a story teller at
heart. His family lived in numerous cities up and
down the eastern seaboard of the United States of
America. He spent the better part of his teens and
twenties carefully crafting his storytelling style to
best share his unique vision. In his thirties he
finally decided to attend college seeking a
Master’s Degree in Fine Art to better learn the
discipline to advance his storytelling.
Now, in his forties, he has decided to start sharing
the countless tales stored in the deepest recesses
of his creative mind. At this point he has become a
filmmaker and writer. His stories can be found in
print and visual media.

Acknowledgements:
Victoria Alderman, I would like to thank my wife
Victoria for both her support and encouragement
in writing this book.
Roger L. Alderman Sr, my father for his trusting
me enough to create the story he wanted to write,
but never had the time. As he worked very hard to
support his families over the years.
Alexis W. Alderman, my daughter for her
encouragement and love. He energy and drive
have always been an inspiration to me.
Roger l. Alderman Jr, my son for whom I based
the character Lightning
upon. My memories of
his growing up helped me to understand the mind
set of a child experiencing the world through open
accepting eyes.
Jeremy D. Alderman, my Brother for whom I
based the character Shadow upon. To understand
him best you must understand his dedication to
family and friends. He makes scarifies most would
never understand.
Helen P. Alderman, my mother for teaching me to
watch before acting, to plan rather than react, and
ultimately to love.

I’M STANDING IN RAIN outside a house with a wraparound porch and well-manicured lawn. I watch the house concealed a large oak tree. A bright light comes from a window. I approach and peer into the window through a tall bush. Each drop of rain like needles piercing me. I see a teenage girl sits on a couch eating popcorn. The bright light from inside still burns my eyes. I must get out of the rain.
The porch light is out. I’ll let her know. A great deafening sound assaults my hearing from the room ahead. How loud is that TV? The light from inside still burns like hot coals in my eyes. I knock on the door. She can’t hear that someone is at the front door with the TV booming. I hammer forcefully on the door, and it collapses to the ground with a loud slam. I clutch at the sides
