This Oral Proficiency Interview – Computer (OPI-c) textbook prepares participants for the 40 minutes, 15 question speaking exam. It focuses on the skills and techniques required to test participants’ conversational ability by helping them to respond in a cohesive and coherent manner. It covers Self Introduction, Describing People, Describing Place and many survey topics.

Sophia Nelson Doman is an English as a Second Language teacher, Course Developer, Instructor, Author, and a Self Publisher.She has over 20 years of experience in the Customer Service industry.Most of this time, she has developed her skills in telecommunication, housing, probation, and immigration. Due to her success in the service industry, she became an independent contractor for a large telecommunication company in Canada. She was training potential client care representatives to work in the telecommunication industry. She then went on to write her Customer Service and Call Centre 101 book for those who would like to get into the service.In addition to writing the Customer Service book, she wrote a few children's books that are quite entertaining and fun to read. OPIc or Oral Proficiency Interview-computer is aninternet based test.
It is a15 questionexam to test a person's speaking ability.
Duration: the OPIc Speaking test takes approximately40 minutes
It tests studentsSpeaking and Listening skillsmainly for college entrance and now has become very important all over the world.
Many companies in Korea are using it as ajudgment tool for employeesentering the company and for promotion.
How are students evaluated?
Students are evaluated in these areas of the OPIc test:
Language Control: Grammar (sentence order, use of the proper tenses, pluralization, use of proper pronouns, prepositions), Pronunciation (accent, intonation, rhythm, speed), Vocabulary (use in the proper context) and Fluency
Comprehensibility: capable of comprehending the questions and giving an appropriate response logically-introduction, body and conclusion.
Function/Global tasks: The capability to respond to questions promptly and improvise if necessary.
Text Type: having the ability to answer questions using appropriate vocabularies (using long sentences vs. short sentences)
Contents/Context: responding to questions/tasks clearly and staying on topic.

There are different levels of OPIc:
■ NL – Novice Low
■ NM – Novice Mid
■ NH – Novice High
■ Intermediate Mid-Level has 3 levels - IM1, IM2 and IM3:
■ IL – Intermediate Low
■ IM – Intermediate Mid
■ IH – Intermediate High
■ AL – Advance Low – this is the highest score level in the OPIc exam, there are other higher levels of the OPI, however it is not taken on the computer; it is taken in a test centre. ACTFL (American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Language) location.
To obtain a level of Advanced Mid, Advanced High or Superior, you must take the OPI (Oral Proficiency Interview) at an ACTFL (American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Language) location. The OPI is a face to face interview NOT via the computer.)

Where does the computer get the questions from?
■ The computer randomly select questions to ask the test taker based on the response given on the background survey(7 questions).
■ The questionnaire has questions about - school, work, social interest, travelling, home, sports/exercise, and hobbies. This will determine the questions you will be asked on the
