Introduction
A couple of days ago I happened to find myself in a gathering where a number of the guests were keen and very avid gardeners. After the normal usual topics had been exhausted – children, grandchildren, budget, finances, best places to invest hard earned money and so on and so forth, it was natural that they came out with their own views on gardening, bottle gardens, dish gardens, miniature gardens, terrariums, cactus gardens, outdoor plants, I had to smile ruefully to myself. They had begun again!
And they would continue talking about this absorbing subject rental their wives came to pull them away from their group and have something to eat. For a newbie who does not know much about gardening, or has just begun to take an interesting look at plant life growing around him, such a discussion is going to be interesting only if he has any interest in it. This book is only for those people who have either begun to take an interest in gardening, or are looking for the latest – the word latest is an euphemism for age old common sense traditions and procedures which have been in existence for millenniums all over the world, but every new gardener who has discovered it considers it to be the best thing and latest thing and most wonderful thing after sliced bread. Forgetting that bread was sliced in ancient Greece and Rome, with metal wires where today we use serrated blades...

Forgetting that bread was sliced in ancient Greece and Rome, with metal wires where today we use serrated blades…
But whatever the method, you do eat sliced bread, do not you. And so, whatever the method, which you are going to implement, and the growing of your plants indoors, you are triumphantly going to talk about gardening techniques with the rest of your gardening crazy friends, who have discovered this amazing new hobby to relax and rest. And hey, grow something. And also change the whole look and interior of an otherwise plain and bland room, with just a couple of rather attractive, but well growing indoor plants, right where there was empty space before, and light glaring on immaculate white walls.
There are so many books out there telling you all about indoor gardening, and they are going to tell you lists of plants, which I considered just a good way of filling lots and lots of pages with information. I am not going to do that because I do not know your geography, location, and your temperature zone. I also know that the indigenous plants which grow in such gay profusion, and gladden the hearts of all those people living in tropical areas are definitely not going to grow in areas, where the temperature keeps plunging down at the appearance of a snowstorm or in arid desert surrounding.
Half of the time, you would not know anything about these plants because they do not grow in your area. So it is absolutely no use, giving you the name of those scientific popular plants, because I am a botanist and I know how to act boringly erudite, and for me, using the Latin name is as common
