Motherhood is as unifying as it is isolating. Poetry is a way of using language to reach across our limitations and find connections with each other, with each other’s experiences, and to take solace. Poetry is a way of being together. So, even if you’re alone in your house with a newborn, or if you’re alone in your house with some screaming teenagers, you can find a quiet space and open this book and read stories of motherhood. The poems in this book are from the distant and not-so-distant past. there is something incredibly profound about reading something from long ago and realizing how much it applies today. These 16 poems for mothers present a selection of beautiful work that act as a tribute to motherhood. There is a lot of love here.
