The Eureka Moment/GymJunkies - Robin Martin
To my readers, whose support and interest in The Alien Chronicles series has helped me to continue the journey.
Note from the Author
Archimedes is a character from the first two books in the Alien Chronicles series: My Alien and The Alien Within. He appears briefly in the first book, where he poses as Rion’s uncle, but plays a larger role in the second book. The short story ‘The Eureka Moment’ explains what happens at the end of My Alien, when Archimedes tries to take Rion back to the Mothercloud, where he is meant to resume his former bodiless existence as an alien who inhabits humans in order to learn about them. 'Gym Junkies' takes place when Rion has left the Brennan family and is living on his own. He doesn't want Zoe to know he has decided to remain human because he feels it wouldn't be fair for her to be with a 4000 year old alien. Jamie is a girl he meets at the gym.

I answered Argus’s request immediately. It was no surprise to me that a being as distinguished as myself would be called upon to serve our people.
‘I am always ready to do my duty.’ I endeavoured to sound humble. I wondered what great task I would be required to do.
‘Good, for it may be painful,’ Argus said.
‘Painful?’ Physical pain was not something I’d experienced since I left my organic body on my home planet thousands of years ago. I was
