It is my dream that by the end of this book you will realise like Mother Teresa that you are ‘a little pencil in the hand of a writing God, who is sending a love letter to the world’. It is my hope that by the end of this book you will be able to say like St Augustine of Hippo that, ‘You have made us for yourself, O Lord, and our hearts are restless until they find their rest in you’. It is my belief that you will be able to confess like St Paul say ‘I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me’. In the midst of the challenges that life may bring you, I am confident that the stories in this book will allow you to declare like St Julian of Norwich that  ‘And all shall be well. And all shall be well. And all manner of things shall be exceeding well’. May the stories in this book help you to enrich your faith so that you create your best life.

Walking with Jesus

As a child growing up in the streets of Fort Worth in Texas, my childhood was very dysfunctional and in many ways intense. There was drug abuse, violence, and every kind of misconduct that you can fathom in your mind. I am not degrading anyone in my household of any sense. I am just stating the facts. In the eyes of my family, it was a matter of survival.

I was raised by my grandmother from the age of 15 months old until I did my longest stent of incarceration at 15 years old. I was living with 3 of my uncles and aunt at my grandmother’s house. These challenging and vigorous endeavors impacted on me greatly and I allowed myself to become a product of my environment. I started to commit petty crimes which eventually led to major crimes. After 11 juvenille stents at the age of 15, I was incarcerated for 4 years and 7 months in the Texas Youth Commission. This was because I chose to hang out with the wrong individuals people. After being released and coming back home, I fell on hard times. After about a year, I again became a victim of the streets of Fort Worth, Texas which led me into 4 county stents once a year for about 6 months at a time.  This totaled 22 months of prison time. This is when life started to change for me.

Things around me started to become plain for me and that is when I made up my mind that I will put on Christ. This was the beginning of my battle. However I realised that I wasn’t in this fight alone. I began to join the prayer groups in prison. I also attended all of the church services and I started to realise how real my God is. I then prayed constantly and asked God what could I do and where was my place in the kingdom of God and on this earth. This was at the point where I had God telling me that if my actions were not  so bad, they could be forgiven.  

After looking back over my life, I discovered that my gift was communicating and connecting with others. I then made up my mind to take on life and give Christ a chance. After being released from prison that’s when it got real! My first encounter was when God brought my wife into my life. I got married to my wife Nadia and we are blessed to have a blended family of 8.

After a couple of years of us fighting against the trails of the world, then came opportunity of a lifetime. I had an encounter with a guy by the name of  Mr. Conner who is now a great mentor of mine. He is a great seed of inspiration and a great man of God who encourages me in the word of God. At this point I was already fired up about Jesus but it was apparent that Mr Conner had seen something in me that I didn’t see in myself. After months of studying the Bible with my wife, we were encouraged to go to Sunset International Bible Institute where we finally graduated with our degrees in Biblical Studies. As soon as graduation was over, I was connected with Wills Point Church of Christ and I hit the ground running. From that point until now, God has open doors no one can shut and closed doors no one can open.

So, today I give special thanks to King Jesus! This is the short version of my story but I have been home now for over seven years. I am in the process of going to the Graduate School. I am also an Associate Minister here in Wills Point Church in Texas. I am now a devoted man of God, husband, dad, evangelist, motivational speaker, life coach and a co- author of Les Brown Changed Our Lives with the great Dr. Patrick Businge. Lastly, I am willing to
