    Introduction

Great minds discuss ideas, mediocre minds discuss events, small minds discuss people Eleanor Roosevelt

This book is going to talk a lot about a global phenomenon, which is growing day by day, especially its influence on the newer generation and its future repercussions in the social, psychological, and emotional growth of people who are completely addicted to the social media.

Where did I lose my smart phone?

So what is the social media? This is a phenomenon which started in the 2000’s and gained momentum in the tens and 20s. The idea was that there were going to be sites online, where you could keep in touch with your family, friend, colleague, and an acquaintance circle, and find out about their lives, and let them know, what was going on in your life.

This was just an extension of the old-fashioned habit of writing letters to your friends and relatives. You may not believe it, but in the 19th and 20th century, letter writing was so much of a social burden on ladies of leisure, or those who had a large friend and acquaintance circle, that they spent a major part of their lives, keeping in touch with their friends, because it was the duty ingrained in them to answer the letters which had been sent to them by their literate social circle.

This of course was not a concern of all those people who were not literate, and did not know their ABCs. Their job was to meet their friends either over a friendly beer after work, or shouting gossip over the rooftop, while they went about their daily day to day work. This was the way in how news was disseminated for millenniums, either true events, or stories or rumors or gossip being exaggerated and passed on to the nearest rooftop, so that by the end of the afternoon, the whole city knew the latest news about your relatives, your neighbors, the great ones of the city, and some exaggerated news, if you happened to be the city’s town crier.

Great minds really did not have time to discuss ideas, except with their peers. But small minds not having anything constructive to do has plenty of fun, discussing other people, because that was natural, and expected and a part of daily life every day.

Man began to use language so that he could communicate what he wanted to think, with his brain. Soon, instead of thinking, the words began to be taken over by the emotions, and instead of ideas, people were discussed. Nobody bothered much about events, unless of course your own family and your social circle and possibly your land was influenced by situations and events, which would have a direct bearing upon your life, from then on.

Today we are doing the same thing, but in a much more state-of-the-art form. We are not discussing ideas very often on the Internet. We cannot believe the truth about what the Internet says about events, because there is always going to be 3 sides to every occasion, the truth, which is often going to be hidden, the exaggeration, which is going to be misguiding, often misleading, and often not true, and the point of view of all the people, who are talking about this particular event, to influence you and your mindset and your intelligence.

This of course has been accepted by man subconsciously for the last 10,000 years, that there was always going to be someone wiser, more experienced, more sensible, more knowledgeable, more practical, more au courant with what was happening, who would give you proper knowledge and information. Nevertheless, the news as it was, would always be a bit colored
