    A Glosser's Christmas Love Story

    Johnstown, 2016

Even before Jason kissed her, Emma thought it was a perfect moment.

Snowflakes fluttered down around them, drifting lazily out of the night sky. The cold air was barely moving, only lightly stirring her long black hair. Strings of white lights clung to the spindly tree branches around them, giving off a magical glow.

Best of all, the giant Christmas tree in the middle of Johnstown's Central Park danced with colorful patterns of light, flashing and changing in time to the holiday music playing from nearby speakers.

Jason's face had been bathed in the blinking light from that tree when he pulled her close. I'm so happy when I'm with you. His cheeks had flashed red and green when he'd said those words. "I mean, every time I'm with you."

Emma's heart had been pounding. She could have sworn it had been beating in time with the song that was playing--Let it Snow.

I feel the same way, she'd said. It's like we were made for each other.

Smiling warmly, he'd reached out and traced the line of her jaw with the tip of his finger. You're the greatest Christmas gift I've ever gotten in my entire life. Breath misting in the cold December air, he'd leaned closer. I love you, Emma.

That was when their lips had met, after he'd said those words for the first time.

For that one perfect moment, Emma felt transported. The wintertime city of Johnstown, Pennsylvania melted away around her, leaving her suspended in another realm of perfect warmth and happiness. All she could feel were Jason's lips pressed against hers...Jason's arms wrapped around her body...Jason's heartbeat through the coats they wore.

There were people around them (the tree drew big crowds for the holiday season) but Emma was blissfully unaware of any of them. Only the man who was kissing her seemed to be real. Only Jason Halloran seemed to matter.

It was like something out of a dream...

Only when the song changed to White Christmas did they break the kiss. Even then, they stayed close, with foreheads touching.

I love you, too, she told him softly.

He kissed her again, longer this time. People around them were singing along with the music, which somehow made the second kiss more romantic than the first.

Emma knew she would never forget this night. It was the first time the two of them had said those words, announcing they loved each other. And it was the first time they'd been together during the holiday season. After all, they'd only met three weeks ago.

And in just a few days,
