The Christmas Connection

I was checking out a homemade ornament on my daughter-in-law Rachel’s Christmas tree when I felt a tug on my jeans. My granddaughter, Madelyn, held out her favorite picture book. We settled onto the couch to read the book for the third time since breakfast, but I didn’t mind. Her dad—my son, Nate—was away in Peru on business, and his kids were missing him.
