About this ebook

In Heaven, On Earth is a love story played out in the Afterlife and Earthlife, following one lover’s death, transgressing the realms. This memoir recognises the profound grief suffered by souls when parted by death whilst offering hope, love and solace for those aggrieved. In Heaven, On Earth is part of the wave of literature channelled from the Higher Self, Disincarnate loved ones, The Divine or Source, experienced and recorded in popular memoirs and complemented by a body of research in Quantum Consciousness and Integral Life Studies. Dr Duffy does not work to validate the Afterlife; rather, she tells her story, grief-stricken at the shock she personally experiences, followed by profound exhilaration at her dead husband’s communication from the Afterlife. This raw and honest story explores the big questions, asking how human spirits may contribute to their souls’ awakening and the collective consciousness whilst on ‘earth’s learning journey’.

    Foreword

I have tried to show death from the perspective of the soul to ease the pain of those left behind. As Plato said, Once free of the body, the soul is able to see truth clearly because it is more pure than before and recalls the pure ideas which it knew before. Survivors must learn to function again without the physical presence of the person they loved by trusting the departed soul is still with them. Acceptance of loss comes one day at a time. Healing is a progression of mental steps that begins with having faith you are not truly alone. In order to complete the life contract you made in advance with the departed, it is necessary to re-join the rest of humanity as an active participant. You will see your love again soon enough. I am hopeful my years of research into the life we lead as souls may assist survivors in recognizing that death only exchanges one reality for another in the long continuum of existence.

Sometimes we find purpose and meaning in our lives, sometimes it finds us.

In Heaven, On Earth is a remarkable book, for three reasons. It takes courage for someone to put themselves forward in their pain and show their vulnerability as a way to be of service to others. In short, this remarkable story gives permission for people to grieve. As a long term therapist and teacher of therapists, I know that this empowers and completes a healing cycle that restores us to life. So often in modern times, we suppress feelings that become trapped and result in illness. To be honest, we all do it, so if this book brings a tear to your eye at some point, then it has done its first job well.

The second reason is that this book validates all of us who have had a metaphysical experience of a loved one who has departed. In these times, when the veil is thinning even further, these stories must be told. By doing so, it opens our eyes to the true nature of life itself. To hear such a story from this particular author, a person of real credibility, gives it even more power.

The third reason this book is remarkable is that it talks about purpose in life, discovered later, though in a time when all that has gone before, can contribute in a powerful and significant way. It’s a story about purpose finding the person, through courageous transformation, born from deep and sudden pain. The fable of the hero’s journey, the legend of the phoenix rising, all are stories of power that come from circumstances and travels that only those of strong character can undertake.

I met Dr Duffy (Annette) in the Australian Spring of 2016. From out of the blue had come an invitation to run a workshop at her home on the Gold Coast in Queensland. Whilst we had never met, Annette had seen me present on the afterlife at a conference in 2015. Intrigued, we opened an email that showed photos of Annette’s property, and something moved inside both my partner Melina and me. We were called there, drawn to the energy that emanated from this haven and to offer our own in return, in a way that contributes to the emerging dream of the Leadership Centre for Peace and Reconciliation.

As we basked in the glow of the rainforest within reach of our fingertips, the wildlife in abundance and the gentle sound of water cascading onto rocks, we undertook journeys into expanded states of awareness. It was like our group was nurtured by an energy held in this beautiful environment that was way beyond ourselves.

I rose early one morning to climb the mountain at the back of Annette’s property, drawn to a sacred place at the top she had told me about. Given the early hour of the morning, I assumed I would be alone and felt myself connecting with the forest and all it offers. Halfway up the mountain, I saw Annette walking towards me. Her red hair flowed behind her as she strode down the mountain carrying a walking staff, accompanied by her beautiful old dog, ‘Mel’. In that moment, I saw Annette, as the messenger she is, returning from the mountain with wisdom to share and purpose to deliver.

Annette mentions in this book a need for a new leadership model across Australia—a need for ‘Transcendental Leadership Theory’. As a long-established senior leader in the Catholic Education System, a doctorate-holder in Indigenous Spiritual Leadership and with her passion for a range of spiritual practices, she is well credentialed to build that theory and share it with others in a way that brings deep and significant change.

We often talk about the evolution of consciousness on our planet, though when it comes to leadership consciousness, we need more of a revolution. I know in my heart that is what Annette, with Brian’s help, is offering.

I hope you are as inspired by this book as I am.

I begin with acknowledging the deliberation of the foreword written by Peter Smith. It is a profound reflection on who Dr Annette Duffy is in her encounter with the death of a loved one. This is an opportunity to embrace the purpose and meaning of Annette’s shared spiritual journey as detailed in her deep spiritual encounter in the publication In Heaven, On Earth.

Annette is a dear friend and soulmate whom I first met in the 1990’s. Over this time, I have been witness to Annette’s passion for justice, peace and reconciliation in the world around us, here in Australia. Annette is an asset in the building of bridges in finding the new core of creativity towards an Australian Spirituality. This core of creativity respects and relates the need for the continuation of a dialogue with Christian ethos and traditions and Aboriginal, Creation Spirituality.

Memories are gifts on the journey of our very being here on Mother Earth; the dwelling place of Creator Spirit. This personal journey is the connectedness of a search for meaning maintaining a human relationship within the realms of the mysticism of wholistic wellbeing of body, mind and spirit.

It is with gratitude for the opportunity to participate in the foreword message of Dr Annette Duffy’s publication that I share my understanding of her encounter with the sudden death of her dearly beloved husband.

The identity we have with the land is sacred and unique. Many people are beginning to understand this more.

What I want to talk about is another special quality of my people. I believe it is the most important. It is our most unique gift. Dadirri recognises the deep spring that is inside us. We call on it and it calls to us. This is the gift that Australia is thirsting for. It is perhaps the greatest gift we can give to our fellow Australians.

When I experience Dadirri, I am made whole again. I can sit on the river bank or walk through the trees; even if someone close to me has passed away, I can find my peace in this silent awareness. The contemplative way of Dadirri spreads over our whole life. It renews us and brings us peace. Quiet listening and stillness—Dadirri—renews us and makes us whole.

Traditionally for the first peoples being the custodians of the whole environment is a journey that resonates with the soul of Mother Earth as the dwelling place of Creator Spirit; the one God of whole creation. The teachings of our ancient traditions relate that the land calls on us and we call on Mother Earth throughout our lifetime here on earth, Our Dreaming. Ours Dreaming. It is about listening with the ear of the heart.

This is the essence of the publication, In Heaven, On Earth. It is an opportunity to enter into the search for meaning in the despair of an encounter with the loss of a loved member of family.

Annette’s sharing of her painful journey, following the sudden end to a lifelong relationship with her soulmate, friend, husband, father to their children; allows one to enter into her search for meaning. Annette embraces the visual signposts that are revealed in her encounters as portrayed in her publication, In Heaven, On Earth.

Thank you, Annette for your wisdom, knowledge and understanding of wholistic wellbeing of body, mind and spirit.

    Introduction

In Heaven, On Earth is the raw, yet exhilarating, story of the final days before and the two years following my husband Brian’s sudden death in October 2014. The ‘raw’ is the shock of his unexpected death and the grief which ensues. The ‘exhilarating’ has been the communication from Spirit world and the happenings which have taken place since his death. Brian died ‘unexpectedly’ of a heart attack. Retrospectively, unexpected may be a misnomer as the signs from the Afterlife were present before he passed and were spoken of by Brian in the days and months leading up to his death. The communication is mainly Brian supporting me from Spirit world; he is both strong and constantly with me in Spirit-form, guiding me through my loss and grief through spiritual healing, whilst revealing to me the profound insight that the spirit never dies, only transforms, eventually transcending this world. He has provided me with several proofs of the reality of his presence in spirit—in visuals, in symbols and with predictions; several of which have been validated. This story is an actual recount of the amazing journey, both of healing and of insight into Spirit world, that I am presently privileged to travel, together with Brian’s spirit, since his death. Both Brian, my husband of almost forty years, and my spiritual guide, Lord Peltoe, who is a Celtic spiritual guide, have channelled, with me, this story of love, faith and hope from grief and loss.

The main purpose for me in writing this memoir is to share the wisdom channelled through Brian and my spiritual guide, Lord Peltoe, of the pure and unfathomable love, who is the Universal Source, the Higher Self, the Divine or God, available to all beings, while living ‘On Earth’ and never separated when ‘In Heaven’; love transgresses all realms. The second purpose of this book is to offer solace to those who seek some answers to the purpose of human life on earth especially
