About this ebook

Emma has been in love with Jacob for quite a long time now. She has dreamed of the day when he finally realizes that he loves her too, and when he asks to walk her home and speak with her privately about an important matter, she believes that her time has come.

When she believes that Jacob chickened out from a proposal, she decides to tell him how she feels herself. But on the way to see him, she runs into Daniel, the other town heartthrob. What he has to tell her shocks her, but she cannot allow him to alter her decision.

When all of her plans fall apart, will she make the decision that is easy, or will she make the plan that she knows is the right one for herself? All she knows is that neither Daniel nor Jacob will make it easy for her.

A Strand of Three Cords - Amish Romance - Hannah Miller

    A Strand of Three Cords

    Chapter 1

Emma Lynn found herself in a situation that she never wished to be in. What had started out as a plan that should have worked perfectly, quickly turned into something that it never should have been; a disaster. The hard part was that it was not only her own heart on the line; two others had become involved as well.

What should have been a perfectly lovely afternoon, an afternoon that would have changed her life forever, an afternoon that she had looked forward to more than any other in her life, ended with her crawling into a corner of her room, unable to cry any more, feeling as if life was no longer fair enough to live.

What Emma also knew, but didn't want to comprehend, was that she had created something that would not allow any of the lives involved to go back to how they were. She had made a decision, and now she had to live with it. But it was a decision that she was not sure that she could live with. Because what if she was wrong? What if she had ruined something so perfect, something so lovely that there was no way she could love again? What if she had broken her heart for no reason at all, as well as the hearts of those men?

Nothing would ever be the same again, and she only had herself to blame.

    Chapter 2

Emma Lynn, a quiet yet hopeful sixteen year old girl, behaved in the way that every good Amish girl should. She was polite, respectful, and always completed her chores. She learned the necessary skills to make a good housewife one day, and her baked pies were some of the best in the town.

She was the envy of most of her friends, with her golden blonde hair and gleaming green eyes that shimmered in the sunlight. Her laugh was contagious, and her kindness set everyone at ease. Many of the young men in town had taken a fancy to her, but that didn't really matter to her. Her friends told her all the time that she could have any man that she wanted.

But she only ever wanted him.

Jacob Roth was a tall, lean boy who had just turned eighteen, and his growing had done him well. Working on his uncle's farm had led him to become muscular, with a trim jawline, broad shoulders, and a large appetite. He often complimented Emma's pies, always saying that hers were his favorite.

She loved the way that his hair looked like the bark of an ancient tree, and his eyes like a deep, wide lake, blue and still and calm.

She had seen him one afternoon helping his mother lift her quilts onto the wash line, the lines of his muscles tense through his white shirt, and she was surprised when she had blushed a little. She and Jacob had grown up together, but she had never seen him as a man before.

He had turned to look at her and threw her a wide smile, and it took her breath
