About this ebook

Analyzing the strategies of the winners who never give up forces us to understand the complex human nature (why people tend towards dissatisfaction?). In this regard, the human being is an inexhaustible source of aspirations, desires and needs. On the one hand, the incredible human being has extraordinary abilities and skills, and on the other hand, he also is prone to suffer due to his adverse qualities and the disability to react adequately to adverse events and failures. Even many winners are aware of the complex human nature and about the harsh realities of life, and use the following strategies:

1. Persevere according to the reality of life.
2. Take “reasonable” significant risks.
3. Pose different scenarios.
4. Know people well.
5. Optimally manage human capital.
6. Rescue the essence of the fundamental needs.
7. Identify the main interests of the parties.
8. Think in the long-term.
9. Exploit capabilities and opportunities.
10. Find the meaning of life.

Strategies of the Winners Who Never Give Up - Rolando José Olivo

    I. INTRODUCTION

Obviously, if we surrender we lose all the possibilities of satisfying our needs and fulfilling our aspirations, leaving aside hope, faith and optimism, and ending with the probabilities of being successful.

There are notable differences between success, triumph and victory (although these terms are commonly used without differentiating them). On the one hand, the triumph is the result of many successes, while the victory is an impressive consequence of innumerable triumphs.

We are successful by fulfilling day-to-day obligations, in an effective and efficient way. If we exceed expectations, then we triumph, and leaving a great impression on society constitutes the victory.

In that sense, everyday, we achieve many personal-professional goals and objectives, being successful. When we accomplish sensational results, we triumph, and by going further, creating or reinforcing a widely known image, we reach the victory.

Paradoxically, the strategies of the triumphant ones are similar to those of the victorious people, and there are triumphant who are similar to the victorious, but few persons know them.

Succeeding, triumphing or be victorious is not a matter of luck, rather it is the intangible product of a combination of attitudes and abilities, aimed at taking advantage of opportunities and getting ahead. The triumphant and the victorious ones understand this reality, don´t give up, and continue applying their strategies, throughout life.

Even more, we don´t know with certainty:

    Where do we come from?

    Who are we?

    Why are we born?

    Why do we live?

    Where are we going?

    What is our destiny?

We also don´t know exactly what a human being is. Nor can we explain why we are the only living beings that can reason and wonder about the existential enigmas (unlike animal species).

In the same way, we have too many needs, which include: eating, drinking, sleeping, breathing, resting, having good health, living in a comfortable place, working, having material goods, forming a family, belonging to organizations, having a nationality, meeting our personal and professional goals, doing everything as well as possible, standing out, being recognized for our merits, serving society and God, living well and taking advantage of our immense potential, striving to win.

Within our own rationality are immersed inexhaustible desires of being successful, triumphant or victorious, which lead to an inexhaustible cycle of need-achievement-need. Even if we fulfill our main personal and professional objectives, there will always be more and more aspirations, desires and needs.

On the one hand, we have extraordinary qualities that allow us to stand out in life and fulfill many goals and objectives, seeking our well-being and the attainment of happiness. And on the other hand, we also have adverse qualities that cause pain and suffering (by not properly dealing with fatal events and not being able to meet our expectations).

However, the human essence is extremely complex. Broadly speaking, in our incessant search for existential responses and satisfaction of needs (day-to-day, and those raised in the long-term), we demonstrate that as human beings we are: exceptional, ambitious, dissatisfied, selfish, spiritual-religious and curious, being more than all part of an existential mystery (which includes the search for the meaning of life).

In addition, many triumphant and victorious ones are aware of the harsh reality of life (it is a difficult matter, there are no guarantees of winning, successes, triumphs and victories don´t end with adversities, human nature is extremely complex, it is very difficult to motivate and achieve the acceptance of others, the postmodern thought has replaced the idealist-religious one, and everything is a question of interests).

Therefore, the winners direct their strategies according to the demands of others and the circumstances. Even the case of Job is an excellent example of a triumphant and victorious who didn´t give up, facing the worst adversities and exceeding all expectations.

Finally, despite the fact that life is fascinating, complex and full of surprises, and there is no recipe of infallible winning strategies, many triumphant persons employ certain strategies (persevere according to the reality of life, take considerable but reasonable risks, pose different scenarios, know people well, optimally manage human capital, rescue the essence of fundamental needs, identify the main interests of the parties, think in the long-term, exploit capabilities and opportunities, and find the meaning of life), that help them in the pursuit of their achievements, constituting this the great difference between failures and triumphs.

II. THE DEFINITION OF HUMAN BEING

We still don´t know what a human being is. Although in different times, the philosophers have asked this question, to-date, it hasn´t been possible to build a precise definition, because any will be short, limited, restricted and incomplete. Even if we try to elucidate this question (considering various characteristics, reasoning and behaviors), we will not achieve this goal, because this conception is holistic and synergistic: the whole surpasses the sum of the parts, and there will always be more and more qualities that will distinguish the extraordinary human being.

On the one hand, the human being is exceptional, far exceeds other living beings, is creative, curious, emotional, evaluative, skilled, imaginative, innovative, intelligent, persistent, thoughtful, and has a conscience that distinguishes good and evil. He also stands out for his altruism, generosity, love and incredible abilities to motivate himself, be resilient and even overcome adverse circumstances. Actually, the cognitive capacity[1] or the great difference between the human being and the other species constitutes a great mystery.

Moreover, the Homo sapiens is prone to analyze the facts, find a meaning to his existence, and transcend, thinking about the future, the death and the destiny.

For that reason, at different centuries, the human being has posed several questions (Is there a God?, How was the Universe created?, What is the origin of life and of the human being?, What comes after death?, What is time?, What is the destiny of humanity?,
