    Chapter 1

I’m sitting on the edge of the bed as I just woke Tyler up. He looks up at me with such a serious expression. Mum, my dragons kept me awake again last night.

Really, what were they doing? I look at him with the straightest face I could. They said they had to leave and make sure everything is safe.

Well, I’m glad your dragons protect you.  I look at him with an amused look. Mum, you don’t understand, my dragons protect us all.

Ok Tyler, I’m glad, I feel much safer knowing that you have a little bit before dinner clean up please.

Yes Mum. I leave the room to go and finish dinner.

Tyler, your mum can’t see us, only you can, your mum has a lot of powers but seeing us isn't one of them. We need you to keep us a secret, adults don't believe in us or see us. My dragons look so serious telling me this.

You don't know my mum then she will believe in you, she believes in all that stuff plus can do a lot.

I’m sure she can but, nobody can know it’s important ok?

Ok but, I don’t ever lie to my mum. It’s not a lie, just don’t tell her if she doesn’t ask.

Ok I guess, it just doesn’t feel right maybe mum can help you guys.

We will see but for now a secret ok?

Ah-huh, can we play now? I say bored with the conversation.

Maybe later, remember your mum said dinner.

Oh yah, I better put you guys away quick and wash up. See you later.

I start to yell for Tyler as I walk into him. Ready for dinner Tyler? Oh, there you are, are you washed up and ready?

    Yes mum. Hi dad.

    Hi son, dinner done yet?

Yes, mum just called me. We talk as we walk and eat our dinner.

Good your home let’s go eat then. So, how was school today?

It was ok, but these kids keep picking on me.

    For what?

I told the one I saw his grandma and she told him he had better behave and that she loved him. He called me a freak and said she’s been dead for a year. I told him she was right behind him, he said I was crazy like my mum and went running away, we aren’t crazy are we mum?

No son we aren’t but, most people can’t do what we do. They shut off the ability when they get older. That’s why we have to keep it a secret. Ok?

    "Ok mum, like
