Lady Locombatch
With her horse’s hooves pounding rapidly on the ground, a lady with long blonde hair known as Sally Locombatch was in a state of frenzy. Sally urged her black mare onward faster and faster until she escaped from the grounds of Lord Locombatch’s Manor. The air was cold thunder was herd cracking from a distance. It would rain soon she guessed with the clouds heavy and dark. She was wearing a dark blue gown made of satin. Her cheeks crimson and her dress cut in a deep V
neck fashion exposed a part of her bare breasts as her horse thundered away from everything she had ever known. With her skirts hoisted up and flying through the wind a smile came across her face. Finally, she was free from him and his horrible ways.
She soon came upon a town. Sally Locombatch didn’t travel much. In fact, she was inclined to be indoors more with her ever demanding, whining, rude, and foul husband not letting her go out at all as of late.
Sally soon stopped her horse and dismounted. She took the reins of the horse in her hand and started walking. People standing in the square all whispered about the new stranger in town. Who is she?
Where did she come from?
Would you look at her dress?
Oh, she must be rich!
Look at her horse! That’s a well fed and well looked after horse!
Oh, but she looks sad and beaten I wonder why?
All the ladies and gentlemen of the square said to one another once they saw poor Mrs. Lady Locombatch. All but one a mysterious old woman in rags looked but did not say anything. When Sally passed by her the mysterious woman asked; Excuse me Mrs. would you like your fortune told?
Sally Locombatch was walking around with her horse by her side lost in thought when the wise old woman offered her services. She decided she had nothing to lose and agreed. Yes, why not?
she replied in a nervous haste.
Come my dear, come and make yourself at home.
The old and poor fortune teller ushered her into a little messy house with a tiny pigsty of a sitting room. Sally wanted to ask the lady how the hell she lived in such a mess but did not for fear of bad manners and etiquette.
