I’m greatly humbled by your interest in my work. As a relatively new and unknown author, my current and future books will either be FREE to download or sold at a very low price. The time you spend with my stories was/is my dream and means everything to me. Thank you, reader!
As the Kingdom of Valtasia slips from its golden age, a new trend rises... In an era come to be known as the Free Enterprise Movement,
commoners begin to form guilds, warlike societies of vigilantes and mercenaries, to stand up against corrupt nobles and organized crime.
During this age of impending revolution, a prominent Valtasian lord, with the hopes of pursuing freedom and purpose, turns away from his privileged life to become a guild commander. He’ll lead the Dawn Power Dream Regime, a band of questionable individuals and would-be adventurers, on a rescue mission to the mysterious island of Manganga, rumored to be inhabited by monsters.
A character-driven fantasy epic, full of action and adventure, heart and humor. This is the tale of wickedness, retribution, and bloodshed, and of redemption, loyalty, and friendship.

The Magic of Mr. and Mrs. Cruff
***
Kids Lucy’s age believed in monsters in the closet. To Lucy, her bedroom closet was a safe place, a quiet place, which drowned out Mommy and Daddy’s shouting and arguing. Their fights would last for hours. It made Lucy cry and kept her awake at night. She had tried concentrating on happy thoughts while playing with Suzy and Sissy, her favorite dolls, but the screaming outside her bedroom would overwhelm her efforts. Sometimes there were other noises, like things being broken or thrown against the walls. Sometimes those fights were so bad that Lucy would pee in a small toy box in her closet. It was to avoid leaving her room to use the toilet. She was always afraid to leave her room, fearing Mommy and Daddy would hurt her like they hurt each other.
Daddy drank too much. He was angry all the time and seemed to hate everything, including Lucy. The grown-up drinks made him stupid and talk nonsense. Whatever he’d say would make Mommy angry and sad.
Mommy would cry all the time, and when she did, she’d ignore Lucy. There were times when Daddy harmed Mommy. Mommy would go completely blank after, as though sleeping with her eyes open. One time, Daddy pushed Lucy into her room where she hit her head against the wall. Lucy screamed and cried, but Mommy didn’t go to her to see if she was okay.
One night, after another Mommy-Daddy fight died down, Lucy stepped out of her closet. The weak shine of her nightlight provided little visibility. Two shadowy figures stood in her bedroom, seemingly staring at her. Lucy stared back, unafraid. Curious. The two were faceless black shapes. One was a slim man with a top hat and long coat, the other, presumably a woman, wearing a long dress with a hood covering her head.
Howdy, young lady,
said the top hat man. He had a deep, buzzy voice, which almost sounded like a cartoon robot.
Lucy wiped her tears away with her pajama sleeve. Who are you?
I’m Mr. Cruff.
I’m Mrs. Cruff,
said the hooded one. She too had the buzzy voice. Hello, Lucy.
She had the tone of those sweetly pleasant TV show moms. Little six-year-old girls shouldn’t be sad all the time. We know why you’re sad, Lucy.
You do?
Lucy didn’t wonder how Mrs. Cruff knew her name and age. Lucy only felt a sense of comfort around these two...People? Maybe they were magical beings like Santa or the tooth fairy.
