About this ebook

Erika has wanted a taste of Chef Marlene Pierce since the moment she arrived at Café Chaleur. The accomplished woman is everything that Erika is not—petite, strong-willed, and feminine. When Marlene walks in on Erika and Lucas, deep in the throes of passion, she believes her chances with the beautiful brunette are gone forever, but she should have realized that what she desires is what Lucas desires...and Lucas always gets what he wants.

Marlene Pierce is shocked when she first learns that the seemingly unambitious Erika is interested in her. Marlene has watched the Amazon bombshell in the kitchen for years and is delighted to find that her fantasies aren’t unrequited. However, Marlene wants more than just Erika’s body. She wants the passion she sees behind Erika’s cooking—even if she has to share that passion with Lucas to taste it.

With an extra pair of hands, lips, and eyes in her bed, Erika is in for a juggling act that she never dreamed of. They say variety is the spice of life, but when her lovers are keeping dangerous secrets, she’s afraid that this dish is about to get overwhelmed.

Spice of Life - Siren Cooke

    Chapter One

Lucas Martin calmly tapped the keys on his keyboard, shifting through the angles of the feed in front of him. The security system had been up and running since the moment he’d arrived at the café. He’d known he would need a tight security. Nothing would keep him away from Erika Porter.

The security system was an added layer of protection. It was another tool he would use to ensure that no one could surprise him if they were in a…compromising position. He kept his face impassive as he trained each camera to capture a different viewpoint of the curvy brunette in front of him. She wasn’t his Erika, but she was interesting.

She kicked the desk violently, causing Erika—the one who actually mattered to him, the one who was hiding under the sturdy structure—to suck in a panicked breath. Did you think no one would notice how you’re pulling strings for her? I don’t care if you’ve got a little crush, you better not to anything to her, she works too hard for someone like you to get in her way.

Lucas inconspicuously stroked the top of Erika’s head, careful to keep his actions hidden from view as he took in their guest. If it had been anyone else, he would have prevented this from happening. There’s no way he would allow carelessness to make Erika any more uncertain than she already was. But his woman had a special…interest in Marlene Pierce. One that he had noted and stored away for careful evaluation. He would do anything to keep Erika happy, and if Marlene was a pawn he could use to further those goals, he had no qualms about doing so.

Marlene folded her arms over her ample chest in irritation. Lucas tilted his head to the side, still not bothering to answer her accusations. The chef was certainly lovely. It wasn’t as if Lucas couldn’t see the appeal. However, she lacked a certain quality he sought. He knew just from looking at her that she wouldn’t derive the same pleasures from his bindings as Erika had.

She blew out a frustrated breath. Are you going to say anything or just stare at me all day? Everyone else may be in constant awe of your attention, but I’m not, Martin. I’m not going to be another one of your fangirls.

Lucas bit back a laugh, rolling one of his shoulders to release some of the tension building in him. Flexing his iron will, he kept the mirth out of his tone as he continued to stare at his computer screen. I’m sorry, who are we talking about again?

Marlene let out a little grunt that would have been cute if she’d made it while he was tightening some kind of binding around her limbs. Chef Erika Porter. You had her transferred to your experimental menu division earlier this week.

Erika started to breathe heavily and Lucas felt the heat of her mouth close to his crotch. She probably wasn’t thinking about the highly erotic position she was in at the moment. Lucas couldn’t have that.

He slid his hand farther into the space under the desk and brought her head to his exposed crotch. Her wrists were tied behind her back with his tie, so it was easy to throw her off balance. Moments before Marlene had barged in, Erika had been about to suck his dick into her pretty little mouth, so there was nothing standing in the way of her doing so now. His cock was primed and ready to go, just as it was every time she was near him.

As I’ve said before, I didn’t have Ms. Porter transferred anywhere. Rémy agreed that I should utilize her talents on the sampling project because Chef Cynthia Stringer was failing to maximize her productivity. Nothing more and nothing less.

That’s bullshit, Marlene snapped with a little more violence than he would have thought possible.

Lucas’s free hand stilled on his keyboard and for the first time, he fully looked at the chef in front of him. Her cheeks were flushed, her eyes bright with anger. She definitely cared more about his Erika than she was letting on. Lucas applied pressure at the back of Erika’s head and shifted forward, giving the impression that Marlene had his full attention.

Tell me, Chef Pierce. Why are you so concerned about where Ms. Porter works, anyway? As far as I can tell, the two of you barely converse.

The rosy tint on her cheeks deepened. We’re colleagues. It’s only natural for me to want to look out for her. Besides…

He shifted his hips slightly, again moving his cock toward Erika. She resisted him the moment she realized what he was doing, and he relaxed his hold. He’d gotten her attention and now her breathing was a little softer, a little more controlled. When she relaxed, he relaxed. She had to trust him if this was going to work. Especially since he planned to tell her what he was really doing at the Café Chaleur. Soon.

Lucas stroked her jaw and she leaned into the touch. His cock twitched approvingly. Oh, don’t leave me in suspense. Besides, what?

Her eyes flashed. Maybe she did have a bit more spine than he’d originally thought. That’s none of your business. What’s important here is that you’ve been whispering in Rémy’s ear. I’d have to be an idiot not to notice.

He agreed with her, there. He had been whispering in Rémy’s ear. But not for the reasons she was accusing him of. No company brought him in without the expectation of a few mix ups, and it was his job to fix what was broken. If he didn’t do his job—and do it well—his cover would be blown. He couldn’t afford that.

He shrugged. The café’s numbers have begun to slump. That’s no secret. I’m here to do what I do best—identify problems and trim the fat.

"Rémy didn’t bump into Erika out on the floor by accident, did he? What does trimming the fat have to do with the
