Dear Readers,
First of all I would like to tell you that I translated this book myself from German to English so more people all around the world would have the chance to read it. Please forgive that it is not a superprofessional translation. I did the best I could.
I am glad that you have found Micro Meditation. The special feature of this book is that all information about meditation and micro-meditation come first hand. This is maybe worldwide the first book about micro-meditation. In addition to many important information about meditation, it contains many individual and absolutely authentic descriptions and instructions.
Shortly after having had my first intensive meditation experience in my own room, I moved to a yoga ashram. Living there for a year I was able to practice a wide variety of mediation and accumulate a wealth of theoretical knowledge on this very large subject. In this book, I also draw from the experiences of friendly yogis and the knowledge of many Buddhist monks from different parts of Asia, with whom I have been in daily contact for almost three years here in Thailand and Laos.
I have been intensively involved with micro-meditation ever since I first came into contact with the idea two years ago. The venerable monk Luang Phor Tham, who is like a father to me, said to me:
Just meditate everywhere. In any situation, no matter where you are. Just close your eyes and meditate as long as you want.
Following his advice, I eventually began - in addition to my daily yoga practice - with several daily spontaneous little meditations. So that was my personal birth of micro-meditation. I quickly realized how powerful this extraordinary technology
is. In the course of time I have also noticed that it is particularly suitable for life stages or situations where there is very little time for spiritual practice, or where we are otherwise very unfocused. During that day I meditated more and more often, but also shorter and shorter. Finally it turned out that just very small meditations from 10 seconds to 3 minutes had an increasing effect on me. Especially an absolute concentration of 10 seconds worked better and better with time.
At some point I then researched the Internet, because I wanted to see what more information was available on exactly this topic in the world. After some unsuccessful searches, I eventually came across an American blog article that briefly described what I practiced here in-house. That's where the term micro-meditation comes from.
