While both you and the seller could jump to Kelly Blue Book to get an estimate of a particular car’s sale value, what you need to know right off the bat is that using a KBB valuation or any other site for that matter can cause you to lose a lot of money real fast! Unless you know true and exact information about the car you’re valuating then just plugging in the information the seller tells you about the vehicle can bring back a higher price than what the vehicle is actually worth. KBB and all other valuation sites can only base their estimates on the information you provide. There is really no way to get an exact value of a used car anyways because the condition of each different vehicle plays a large factor that's difficult to account for. But what KBB or the other sites can provide you with is a good ball-park figure based on the information you provide. Understand that even the best mechanic can miss a soon-to-be problem with a vehicle when he has to make a five to ten minute review.
