    INTRODUCTION

    ––––––––

To be successful in high school and beyond, every student need to understand the aspects of studying, teaching, and learning. You should know what type of learner you are and be able to identify which learning style best suits you. You should also recognize various study skills and be aware of the importance of being open to learn by noticing and enhancing their your own motivation, self-discipline, critical thinking skills, and time management.

Awareness of testing issues-such as exam anxiety, study guides, cramming, and preparing for certain types of problems is integral to any type of secondary learning. Even more important, to have a successful home-study learning experience, you should first be aware of all the components involved: your immediate surroundings, paying attention to what you studying, preparing for the actual exam(s), successful note taking, and a high level of confidence in your study materials. So before you delve into the rest of this book, understand first that there are four categories of questions to consider when trying to understand your personal learning style.

The first category is to review your past. How did you learn to study? Do you work best in a quiet environment or with some background noise? Do you work better independently or in groups? It is also important to be familiar with your likes, dislikes, and abilities with regards to reading, memorizing, summarizing, problem solving, analyzing, interpreting, and reviewing.

The second category involves evaluating your current position. For example, just how important it is that you successfully complete this study course, how interested then you need to be in the topic, and your motivation to learn. You also need to have a study plan and time line that is reasonable for you and/or your family/work situations. For example, most of my exam study guides are developed so
