    The Star - Alec Silva

    The Star

For the star that inspired this story.

    INTRODUCTION

There is something magical about random conversations, a transcendental and inspiring power, and in one of these randomities the mind finds scattered images and unites them within a coherent text — or nearly so.

The Star was born like this, from a random wheel of subjects involving tattoos, Tarot cards, constellations, symbologies, mythologies, roses, and wolves, roughly the elements present in the following text. And it was a pleasant thing to do, to try to sort these imaginary puzzle pieces and give them a regular shape, and not to let everything so loose.

The reading of this short story may be more exciting to whom it was dedicated since there is so much of her along the lines. However, there is no problem in other readers seeking their own interpretations — and this is the beauty of imagination: to weave theories about facts.

The wolf, still lying on top of a pile of dry, soft leaves, stared at her for a long time.

She was, apparently, a girl like any other who would pass by that forest, reckless towards the dangers that would threaten her: a fool. There was nothing else to notice beyond that: it didn’t matter if the girl seemed frighteningly happy to have found him, showing a broad, almost childlike smile, while the dark-brown eyes seemed to have a bit of dew in them, so bright they were. If she bothered him too much, he wouldn’t have any trouble tearing her small fragile body and turning her beautiful dress into bloody fragments.

What do you want from me, human?, said the wolf, after analysing her enough.

    Your help.

The animal narrowed his grey-blue eyes, yet unable to hide his surprise.

    Help?!

Yes, confirmed the girl, smiling kindly.

He stood up. Bigger than any wolf, perhaps even more
