CIRCA AND SETTING:  1850, New York

SETTING: All action takes place backstage in Jenny Lind's dressing room. A dressing table and chair are downstage right—the surface of the table covered with atomizer perfume bottles, jars, hairbrushes and a large hand mirror. A wingback chair also has a dress thrown over it. An entry door is downstage left. Various small tables complete the furniture, each one holding large vases of flowers. Several vases, in fact, have been relegated to the floor due to lack of space.
