About this ebook

Somewhere in the middle of nowhere lies the seaside town of Fairhaven. Just past the harbour if you turn right you come to a network of streets and right in the middle is a very posh part called Uppity Square. Here the Kiljoy family live. There's Mr and Mrs Kiljoy, who are very posh, but their children aren't quite so posh. Imogen and Winifred are four year old twins. Not only are they very spoilt and very annoying, they just can't stand their big, six-year-old brother, Thomas. At least he is not exactly big and most people call him Teeny, but he has a really BIG problem which leads to lots of other problems. Read on to find out what they were and if he found a way out of them all..........

Kathy Taber-Montgomery, author of We Live In A Zoo, has always had a love of children’s books. She knew from a young age that she would be an author, adoptive parent, work in television and dedicate her life to helping others. Taber-Montgomery grew up in Oswego, New York and credits her family, friends, teachers and co-workers for helping her become successful in meeting the goals she had at such a young age. Kathy worked in television in Syracuse, NY for close to ten years, and helped many youth and adults with special needs. She later relocated with her husband Shon who served in the USArmy. They have adopted 4 children: Nick, Tyler, Eyan and Jewel, she notes that her friends, family and experiences are truly her inspiration to write. Kathy’s hope is that children will grow to love the stories she has written and will write in the future, and that they will help bring them knowledge, hope and inspiration.

    For Andrew

    P R E F A C E

When looking through the portfolio of my late son, Andrew, I was intrigued by a particular drawing of Teeny with his yellow face and black heart attached to his t shirt. Andrew had his own business designing t shirts, but died at the age of 32. I dedicate this story to his memory using his own illustrated character.

I would like to acknowledge the help and support of my daughter Esther, the late Jackie Egerton who gave me so much encouragement, and of course, my husband, Roy.

Thomas Kiljoy was very short. He was so short that all his friends called him Teeny. His Mum and Dad called him Thomas and never wanted to believe that anyone would call him anything else.

Teeny! Who is Teeny? Mrs Kiljoy would splutter when drinking her tea at the Women’s Institute.

Teeny! Who is Teeny? Mr Kiljoy would roar, his large handlebar moustache quivering when talking to his colleagues on the local council. His name is Thomas, sir!

Actually, his Mum and Dad really knew everyone called him Teeny. His Dad was heard to yell, ‘Teeny!’ when he was so angry that he forgot himself. It was the day Teeny was playing football in the final between his school, Edward Philpot Juniors and Little Ned’s down
