    STRAIGHT FROM THE STREET

    Image%201.jpg

The Lord rebukes the devourer for my sake, and no weapon that is formed against me shall prosper

    (Malachi. 3:10 Isaiah 54:17)

    CAN I TELL MY STORY?

    Gathering My Thoughts

    Now, Where Shall I Start?

    It started out with weed

Back then that was all I needed to get high

Sit back, eat, and laugh until I cry

Oh, I use to act a fool!

Working on the block while skipping school

On the real, my teachers were whack!

Always trying to get a brother to improve his act

Then it happened, I caught my first case

Police riding up on a brother with mace!

    My Earth broke down

Wasn’t really worrying about me but it hurt to see her disappointed frown

So, I stayed out of trouble for awhile

Messed up and had a child!

    A male soldier

    Named him after me

Keeping it real his birth brought out the best in me

    For a moment

The blocks called and I was on it!

    Come on,

I had a child to feed

I didn’t want to be like my father I was going to take care of my seed

    School didn’t pay

That early time was taking away my money

Learning what, when I’m out here flipping twenties!

    Man,

    Then it happened again

My second drug charge with a large bail fee

    Money stack fell short

Yo, this game was getting the best of me!

    I’ll never forget

That was the day my Earth smacked me in the face in front of a crowd

    Screaming all loud

About how I’m acting like my father repeating his negative ways!

Thinking to myself, Whatever you say!

I started hanging out more with my boys

    Dipped the weed,

At that point a stronger high I needed to get by the day

Third charge, this time I get sent away

Yo, some crazy things happened to me in jail!

I started analyzing where I failed short in life

I never really listened to those who tried to steer me right!

I thought back to what my mother said

About my father and how I was following in his footsteps

I thought about my seed will it hit him next!

Damn, I’m not even around to take care of him

I guess that’s how the cycle begin

It did for me, my dad I would never see!

I found myself feigning for drugs to wash the pain away

Its hunger grew stronger each day!

By the time I saw the streets, I was a full blown crack head

Hell and darkness my journey led!

    People saying,

This can’t be true, James I know that’s not you!

    Man, things got real bad

Eating out the garbage, sleeping on the street drove me mad!

    Then my worst nightmare happened

    I saw my seed,

Sitting on the park bench with his friends smoking weed!

It reminded me when my dad saw me smoking

    Walked up I started choking

    I yelled at him,

"Man, you haven’t been in my life all this time!

Don’t you dare tell me how to do right!

In anger I almost whipped out my knife!"

    So, I did nothing

    Just walked by

    Felt lower than a failure

    Man did I get high!

    That last hit (boom)!

    I hit the floor!

Feeling dizzy trying to make it to the door!

    My body wouldn’t move

    Air couldn’t get through

The game appeared and said I got the best of you!

    No faking!

Standing over top of me was Satan!

    I had you believe,

That you couldn’t achieve in school

    Fool,

You should have listened to your teachers

You should have walked up when the preacher called you home

    Now,

No one can hear your tone!

You denied your mother of her most sacred joy

The life of her little boy!

    You left your seed

Just like your father left you!

    By the way,

    Thanks he’ll do right

    Another ignorant brother without sight!

    Another lost man

Hard-headed, lack of discipline, and too confused

    To stand

    On his own two feet!

    This battle between man

Is becoming too easy to seek and defeat!

    Just Like You!

    Don’t Pray to God Now

    When Every Day He Knocked

    You Wouldn’t Let Him Through!

Say, Good Night to Your Fans

DEATH GOT THE BEST OF YOU!

    STORY TOLD!

    FATHER TO SON

    MY SON,

I asked your mother for this visit

I’m sorry that we have to talk through this glass

Man, my little boy has grown up so fast!

I missed so much in your life

I only wish that I could correct the wrong right

Yet, I chose to live my life in strife

    You see,

    School just wasn’t for me!

    I didn’t pay attention

My negative attitude and jokes kept me in detention

I didn’t do my work, constantly cutting class

    Chasing behind some ass

    Smoking weed

Started getting money to fulfill my needs

    I didn’t know,

That the road I was traveling was the wrong place to go

    Is that it?

Nothing personal but dad I didn’t come here to hear this shit!

    You had it brought

You got sloppy so your ass got caught!

Oh, so you think I’m in prison over drugs

Selling on the corners like you local thugs

    Hell no!

Shut up and listen before your hard head go!

    I can see,

Talking to your ass was like talking to the childish me!

Living for the day, not being exposed to a higher way

    I’m a murderer my son!

Killing punks like you just for fun

Why sale when you can rob

Take the goods while your determined ass do the job!

I killed so many people now I can hardly sleep

Every time I close my eyes a demon I meet

I had it all never thinking one day that I could fall on my face

Now hell chases my inner being

    I mean

    I can’t lie!

I’m thinking my time is near to die!

The preacher said, my lost brother please use your head

Give your life to Jesus Christ

Yet, how can He forgive me when every day I did wrong not right?

    When I get high

    I start thinking about suicide

    I hate it in here!

I hate that every day I have to watch my back in fear!

Man, these people just don’t care!

    28 years,

    28 years I lost!

All because I wanted to be down and floss

To say I am my own boss!

    Son!

    I was wrong!

My whole fucking outlook on life was wrong!

I can’t take people selling this fantasy like gang banging makes you strong!

I just wanted us to meet

I just wanted to see your face

    Before death I embrace

    Dad wait!

Maybe what the preacher said can change your fate!

    Its been hard out here

Not having a father to share my pain

I too sometimes feel like I’m going insane!

    Moms,

Walked up and gave her life to Jesus Christ

Ever since then she has been living a joyful life!

    I hear her pray

Maybe if we do we both will be forgiven today!

    Son,

    I never prayed before

I wouldn’t even know what to ask Him for?

    Moms,

I saw her grab the other person’s hand and bow their heads

I think I can repeat some of the words she said

    Son,

Then touch my hand on the glass, close your eyes, and bow your head

Now go repeat what she said

Our gracious Father of all high
