Terror from Hell - Twyla Reese

    CHAPTER 1

(Bang-Bang-Bang) Linda opens her crystal blue eyes, rubbing her eyes with her tiny petite hands curled up in a little ball glancing around the room not realizing her mother is standing next to her bed.

Good morning sleepy head. As Maggie sat down beside her on the bed, leaned over and gave her daughter a kiss on her little nose.

Good morning mommy. As Linda wraps her little skinny arms around her mother’s neck and gave her a kiss back on her check. (Bang-Bang) Linda jump’s back a little looking around her room, her eyes darting back and forth from the walls, and then looking at her mom.

Mom… what was that noise? Linda pulls the blanket up to her chain.

Oh… honey that was a tree branch. Maggie pointed towards Linda’s bedroom window, where the wind was wiping a tree around. (Bang-Bang-Tap)

See there, there is noting to be afraid. Maggie giggle as Linda peered over her mothers shoulder to look at the window watching the tree branch dancing around in the wind.

Well breakfast is done and it is waiting for you at the kitchen table. Maggie, whisper softly as she stood up pulling her long curly auburn hair into a ponytail and rejust her belt around her slender body. Maggie started walking to the bedroom door and as Maggie turned around, she realizes how much her little girl has grown up in the past three years sense the drive from Las Vegas to Montana.

It was three years ago when Maggie, her little sister Molly and Linda grab what they could grab, and what little money they had and pile into her sister 1998 Mustang and drove straight through, until there was no more gas and all the money was gone. Molly pulled into a parking lot and turns the ignition off. Well that is as far as we can go. Molly mumble as she reach for her purse, from the floor broad of the car that was by her sister feet and pull out a pink hair scrunched and put her curly blonde hair in a half ponytail. Maggie opens her eyes.

"Where . . . are we?" As Maggie rubbed her sapphire blue eyes with both hands.

We are in the state of Montana, middle of no ware. Molly glances over at her sister, biting her bottom lip. Maggie was looking around through the car side window, the only thing she can see was snow peak mountains that went on forever, a little café, the Moose Café, the sign read and a few trucks park in front of the café. Snow falling gently from the sky dancing around in the wind.

It is beautiful. Maggie replied. As Maggie open the car door, she felt the sharp icy cold wind hit her bare arms and all the hair on her entire body stood up and Maggie shut the car door quick (Bang).

It is fucking cold out there. All of sudden Maggie cup her mouth with both hands and turned her head to look behind her to make sure she didn’t wake up Linda who was sound asleep in the back sit of the car cover with her favorite pink blanket.

Maggie. Molly whisper as she reaches behind her sit to grab her green cotton sweatshirt that was balled up under couple of backpacks.

Mommy, what is that white stuff coming down from the sky? A squeaky voice coming from the backset of the car. Maggie looked over her shoulder and gave her daughter a smile and told her that was snow. Linda never saw snow before, being she was boring and raise in Las Vegas.

It looks like white bugs. Linda shot up from her sit to get a closer look pressing her nose against the window curious about the snow.

We better get in the café before it starts to get cold. Molly mumbles.

The three of them exit the car the wind picked up whipping the snow around making it difficult to see and the snow felt like tiny needles piercing there skin.

Mommy it is cold. Linda was shivering like an ice cube, her teeth chattering. As the three of them ran across the parking lot trying not to slip and fall on the icy snow cover parking lot to get inside the café. The door to ‘The Moose Café burst open and the three of them standing in the doorway cover with snow, shivering and stomping the snow off there shoes and brushing each other getting the snow off.

Hey come on in and have a sit. A young slender women with long blonde hair yelled from behind the counter as she was putting away clean plates that just came out of the dishwasher. Molly, Maggie and Linda stood there for a moment looking around and slowly eased there way through the café passing a man that was sitting at the counter in a barstool and a young couple that was sitting at a corner both. The three of them sat down at one of the booths looking around. It was a cute café, with the moose head hanging on one of the walls right above the crackling fire and there were 6 booths, 4 tables and a counter with 8 barstools in front for people can sit down. Maggie notices all the hunting photos hanging on the wall.

Hi their, my name is Bobbie and I will take care of you. A young women announce as she came walking up to the table caring a tray with 3 glasses of ice water and 3 menus in the other hand. Bobbie sat the menus down on the table and the ice water.

Can I get you ladies anything else, something hot to drink? Bobbie asks as she took a step back pulling a pen and a tablet out of her apron with white lettering across it, (The Moose Café.)

Yes, 3 hot chocolates please. Maggie responded.

"Ok, you got it and I will be right back." Bobbie told the three of them as she wrote down there order putting the pen and the tablet back into her apron. Maggie notice when Bobbie walked away she had a limp and kind of favoring her right leg. Another thing Maggie notice was how well dress Bobbie was and groomed. Bobbie did infact had very long blonde hair but it was pulled back in a ponytail and breaded. Her white blouse was tuck in and not too much makeup but enough to brighten herself up.

"Mommy, I have to go to the bathroom." Linda whisper as she was dancing in the booth trying not to pee her pants.

Ok, go and becarfull. Maggie whisper squeezing Linda’s little hand as Linda accused herself from the table, she bumps into a chair knocking the chair over that was only a few feet away. Linda picks the chair up and places it where it belongs and turned glancing at her mother and giggle.

Linda you need to pay more attention to what you are doing. Maggie shook her head. Linda apologizes and hurries of to the bathroom knocking another chair over leaving it lying on the floor. Maggie got up from the table hurry over to pick up the chair that her daughter knocked over and return to the booth where her sister was sitting hoping nobody did not just see what happen. When Linda finally disappears around the corner down the hallway out of ears reach.

What the hell are we going to do Maggie? We only have ten dollars and nowhere else to go and the car is almost out of gas. Molly gave Maggie a worried expression, as she picks up the napkin from the table and blows her nose.

I don’t know but we have to figure something out.

Here you ladies go. Maggie and Molly both jumped in the booth startle and the both of them looked up at the waitress.

Oh, thank you. Molly whisper in a clam voice, as her heart was beating like a race horse, taking a couple of deep breaths to shake her nervousness.

I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to scare you ladies. Bobbie responded. As she put the three hot chocolates on the table. Bobbie gave Maggie a concern looked and Maggie noticed the expression in Bobbie’s greenish blue eyes almost turquoise coloring. Bobbie asks Maggie and Molly if they needed anything else.

No thank you that will be all for now. Molly smiled softly at Bobbie.

Ok, well let me know, just wave me down and I will be right over. Bobbie turned around and walked back to the bar counter.

Maggie looked up at her sister and notice tears forming in her sister pale-blue eyes.

I don’t know but we will figure something out. Maggie whisper and place a hand on Molly’s hand letting her know everything will be ok, follow by a warm smile.

Maybe I can help you ladies. A man announce, standing by the table looking at the two women. Both women jumped in the booth and looked up at the man standing by there table. A well good looking man, whereing a baseball cap that said—Hunting—across it, hazel eyes, a little muscular but not to muscular and medium height, he where glasses, and under the glasses was a friendly face, someone you know you can trust.

Hi, my name is Dave Schmitz, and I am the owner of the Elk Lodge. Dave extend his hand to shake there hands. That is when Dave enter there life’s.

Mommy. Maggie snapped backed to reality when she heard a little voice in the back around.

Yes honey. When Maggie looked at her little porcelain doll sitting up in bed, holding the bed spread cover up to her chin, her long curly black hair going wild around her face.

I cannot find my bunny slippers. Linda mumbles as she leaned over the bed looking under the bed for her slippers. Maggie glanced over by her daughter’s nightstand and saw the bunny slippers tuck under the nightstand. Maggie bent over and pulled the slippers out from under the night stand that’s where her stuff bunny and her bunny table lamp sat.

Here you go my little cutie palm. Maggie tossed the slippers to her daughter as Linda squinting her eyes giving her mom a look—don’t call me that—as the slippers landed on top of the bed beside her.

Thank you mommy. Linda gave her mom a warm smile as she pulled the covers away to put on her slippers.

Maggie leaves the bedroom and walked down the hallway passing the guest bedrooms to the staircase. She stopped at the top of the staircase when she overheard on the radio going of in Dave’s office that a snowstorm is headed there way, the only communication they have being 20 miles away from civilization living on a mountain and the only way to get up and down the road is four wheel drive or snowmobile when the winter season comes. As she grab hold of the railing and walked down the stairs, Maggie stopped suddenly when she heard a crackled. Maggie’s heart started to beat a little faster as she crept down the staircase to the bottom peered around the corner of the desk where people check in and discover it was a fire crackling away in the fireplace. Maggie hates herself for being so paranoid but when you are used to living in fear all the time that seems to happen. Jumping at every little creek, noise or anything that bumps in the night. Maggie walked over to the fireplace, across the bear rug and sat down in the rocking chair that was next to the sofa to watch the fire, Maggie could feel the warmth that was being produce by the fire crackling and popping away when Dave came walking out of his office.

Good morning and how are you doing this morning? Maggie holding her hands in front of the fire watching Dave as he put on his winter coat that was hanging on the coat rack next to the front door.

I am doing well just have to head into town and get some supplies for the lodge. Dave smiled thinking to himself how he would love to go over to where she is sitting and give her a sweet passionate kiss on her sweet powder lips. Dave walked down the hallway into the kitchen.

As Dave enters the kitchen Molly was sitting at the kitchen table sipping on a cup of coffee.

Hey… Molly there is a list on the refrigerator of supplies we need for the lodge. Bobbie and Sara should have everything ready at the café. Can you please pick them up for me? I need to run over to Missoula to pick up some more supplies. Dave put on his baseball cap and disappears out the back door.

Molly nods her head—ok—Dave did not even give Molly a chance to respond. Molly walked over to the refrigerator taking a look at the list when Maggie appears standing in the door way of the kitchen.

Good morning sis… how are you doing? Molly glances up at her sister.

Oh… doing good but I wish Dave would have told me about this yesterday. Molly growled a little grinding her teeth as she pulled the list out from under the kitten magic that Linda brought home from school a couple of months ago.

Well you know Dave and with this snowstorm coming he always make sure the lodge is well supplied. Maggie walked over to her sister and gave her a friendly hug.

Yeah, I better get going if there is a snowstorm coming this way. Molly tugged away from her sister and walked over to the coat rack grabbing her pink winter coat and gloves.

As Molly was getting ready to leave. Hi Aunt Molly, where are you going? Linda asking her aunt as Linda pops in the kitchen rushing to the kitchen table almost knocking her mom over where her breakfast is waiting.

I have to go to the café and pick up some supplies. Molly gave her niece a soft pleasant smile.

Can I go with you? As Linda pick up her toast and took a big bite out of toast smacking her lips.

No not today, I don’t know how long I am going to be. Maybe next time ok. Molly gave Linda a wink as she went out the back door.

Mommy how come aunty never takes me anywhere? Linda took a big bite out of her bacon as Maggie walked over to the coffee pot that just got done brewing as she open the caber right above the coffee pot and pulled a flower coffee cup out and poured herself a cup of coffee.

Oh… honey she does but not when it is winter with snow and the roads are bad. Maggie knows if anything happen to Linda under her sister’s watch, Molly would never forgive herself.

Hey… you finish eating your breakfast ok and get ready for school.

Mom, today is Saturday there is no school. Linda giggles and kept on eating her breakfast.

Maggie opens the caber door taking out a tall glass and pours Linda some orange juice. Placing the
