    Acknowledgement

Writing this book has been no easy task. It has involved many hours of time spent and also going back to Aceh to recollect data. We thank all the contributors for being patient and dedicated in preparation of this book.

To achieve this goal, we collaborated with a local non-governmental organisation – Bulan Sabit Merah, Indonesia – to host and facilitate our activities and transportation.

To the administrators of Al Fityan School, we thank you for your hospitality in providing the accommodation and allowing us to live with the children and share their emotions.

The people of Lokhnga Village that were severely affected by the tsunami always thank us for our visit. Now we would like to thank them for allowing us to conduct the study and for being strong, which inspired us to be constantly patient, especially in times of despair.

To the lecturers of CUCMS, Prof. Dr Abdul Latiff Mohamad and Assoc. Prof. Dr Ahmad Asmadi Yusof, we thank you for nurturing and accompanying us throughout the journey. Teaching is easy, but nurturing requires a lot of dedication in training and coaching, and that is what all the lecturers of CUCMS do. To Assoc. Prof. Dr Mohamed Ikram, who is also our lecturer and the vice-president of MERCY Malaysia, we thank you for editing and your advice in the publication of this book.

To our fellow colleagues and contributors of this book, thanks for spending time together in this much-valued activity. Without your help and perseverance, this journey would not have taken place.
