Nicole Christin Hamann
Nicole Christin Hamann had joined the book club at the school for fun. The fi rst project she was given was to write a book. The book would be entered into a competition the school was having. The book could be written on any subject from fi ction or non fi ction. The book had to have a cover, a story no less that fi ve hundred words, it could be more but not less as it would not be entered into the competition and be disqualifi ed. After thinking it over she decided the only real story she would like everyone to read was a story of her own life. She wanted to share the good as well as the bad times. She wanted all the people that read the book to know she never gave up even when she nearly died, she just kept going. Nicole new that God had a purpose for her being here and this book might be the answer he is waiting for. Nicole hopes her story will tell people out there that no matter how hard life gets, when you have God on your side all things are possible.

This book is about the life so far of a sweet, young girl named Nicole Christin Hamann.
This true story is dedicated to all children out there who have something in their lives which are beyond their control and that they have to experience. I hope my story will give you all the strength to be strong and to fight your way through the tough times. Remember never give up because God is always on your side.
I thank my Heavenly Father, my parents, brother, grandparents and Aunty Janet for all your support as well as all the doctors and nurses who have taken great care of me in my times of need. I also thank all the parents and friends at school and at church who have kept me in their prayers throughout all the difficult times. I love you all.
Chapter 1
It was a hot Saturday afternoon, in the summer of 1998 in South Africa, when my mom went into hospital as a result of her waters breaking. On her arrival at the hospital my dad was not with my mom as he was away from home doing work in King William’s Town, which is about thirty minutes’ drive from East London.
My dad arrived at the hospital in record time, about fifteen minutes after he had been telephoned. He found my mom already on a drip and with birth contractions starting. In plain language, that meant I should be born soon—but how soon only God knew.
My mom and dad waited throughout the night but I did not make a quick appearance. At about 6 a.m. the next morning, when my mom was exhausted and my father was becoming increasingly worried because I had not yet been born, I finally made a halfway appearance, but no further. Talk about being stubborn and wanting to stay in the security of my mom’s tummy! The doctor decided to give my mom a caesarean-section, which meant that my mom had to have an operation to help me to be born into their lives.
An hour later, at 7.25 a.m. on Sunday, 11th January 1998, I was finally born. Once the nurses had checked me out they passed me into the loving hands of my mom and dad for the first time. My parents recall being so happy to meet me that they cried with joy. My dad telephoned everyone and told them
